# Welcome to Frase

The agentic SEO and GEO platform that researches, creates, optimizes, and tracks — so your content ranks on Google and gets cited by AI.

Frase is the content operating system for AI search — an agentic SEO and GEO platform that researches, writes, publishes, monitors, and fixes your content, so your pages rank on Google and get cited by AI.

Most tools do one job, then hand the rest back to you. Frase is built the other way around. It learns how your brand sounds, then runs the whole loop end to end. Frase does the work. The call is always yours.

{% hint style="success" %}
Whether you're a solo marketer, an in-house content team, or an agency running this same loop across a roster of clients, Frase connects strategy and execution into one workflow — so you spend less time figuring out what to do and more time shipping work that performs.
{% endhint %}

### What Frase Does

Frase carries your brand and competitor context through every stage of a repeatable loop, all in one place. Each page you publish sharpens the next one.

Here's the cycle:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Listen

[Frase Answers](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/frase-answers) captures the real questions your visitors ask on your own site. The loop starts from first-party demand — those questions tell Frase exactly what's worth creating next.&#x20;
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Create

[Go from research to brief to finished article.](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/create-new-content-that-ranks) Frase digs through your market — search trends, competitors, content gaps — then drafts the piece and its images, with real-time SEO and GEO scoring as you go.&#x20;

**Want to write it yourself?** Frase handles the research and brief and gets out of your way. You can also [import and improve content](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/optimize-existing-content) that already exists.&#x20;
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Publish

One click sends the finished draft live to [WordPress](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/wordpress), [Webflow](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/webflow), [Sanity](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/sanity), [Wix](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/wix), or [Frase CMS](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) — no copy-pasting, no reformatting. Every page that goes live becomes something to optimize.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Monitor&#x20;

Frase tracks how you rank on Google and where AI engines cite you, with [AI Visibility](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo) across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI. You see a problem before it costs you — and before your client tells you.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Fix&#x20;

[Content Guard](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard) catches a page losing rank or traffic, drafts the revision, and sets it in front of you ready to read. Approve it and Frase republishes to your CMS.&#x20;

A sharper page feeds the next round of research — and the loop comes around again.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="success" %}
This isn't a linear checklist — it's a connected system. You can jump in at any stage, and Frase will meet you there. Human review is the default at every step: Frase proposes, you decide.
{% endhint %}

### What's New About Search (And Why It Matters)

If you've been doing SEO for a while, you already know the landscape has shifted. If you're newer to it, here's the context that shapes how Frase is built:

> More than 50% of Google searches now end without a click on a blue link. When an AI Overview appears, that number climbs above 80%. At the same time, AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude are becoming discovery engines in their own right — and the traffic they send converts at dramatically higher rates than traditional search clicks, because visitors arrive already knowing who you are.

**You can rank #1 and still watch AI hand the answer to someone else.** So content now has to perform on two surfaces: traditional search and AI.&#x20;

Ranking on Google still matters — a lot. But getting cited by AI systems is becoming just as important, and the signals they respond to are different. Frase is built to optimize for both at once, and to keep watching after you publish.

### How to Use These Docs

The help center is organized around how you actually work — not a list of every feature.

* **Get Started** — Orientation and setup. Start here if you're new.
* **Core Workflows** — Goal-first guides that show you how Frase's features work together to achieve a specific outcome. If you arrived with a question like "how do I rank higher" or "how do I get cited by ChatGPT," this is where to go.
* **Feature Reference** — Detailed documentation for individual features. Use this when you need to go deeper on something specific, or when the [Frase Agent](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent) points you here.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Not sure where to start?** Ask the Frase Agent directly in the app. Describe your goal in plain language and it'll point you in the right direction — or just handle it for you.
{% endhint %}

### Best Practices

[**The**](#user-content-fn-1)[^1] [**Frase Agent**](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent) **can run most of the loop for you.** Almost every workflow in Frase can be started through a conversation with the Agent. If you're ever unsure what to do next, just ask it.

**Set up your site first.** The more context Frase has about your brand, competitors, and existing content, the more useful every stage of the loop gets. Connecting your site and your Google Search Console account early makes a real difference. → See: [Connect Your Site and Brand](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/connect-your-site-and-brand)

**SEO and GEO aren't competing priorities.** A piece of content that ranks well on Google and gets cited by AI isn't two different pieces — it's one well-structured, well-researched, authoritative article. [Frase's scoring](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-scores-explained) helps you clear both bars at once.

**You stay in control.** Frase proposes the fix and waits for your yes. Want the small, repetitive fixes to ship on their own? They will — the day you flip that switch, and not before.

# Product Overview

A quick crash course on how Frase is organized and how to see value fast.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/2cUCKcSwOhM>" %}

### The Big Picture

Frase is organized around a loop. Instead of a pile of separate tools, Frase runs a single, repeatable cycle — **Listen → Create → Publish → Monitor → Fix** — and every feature in the product lives in that flow.&#x20;

Frase listens for what your audience is asking, creates the content, publishes it, watches how it performs on Google and in AI answers, and fixes it when it slips.&#x20;

Each page you publish sharpens the next one — so the loop compounds instead of resetting.

### The Loop, Stage by Stage

<details>

<summary><strong>Listen — Frase Answers</strong></summary>

[Frase Answers](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/frase-answers) captures the real questions your visitors ask on your own site, so your roadmap starts from first-party demand instead of guesswork. These questions tell Frase what's worth creating next and feed straight into the Create stage.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Create — Research, Content, Opportunities</strong></summary>

Found in the *Create* section of the sidebar. [Research](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/deep-research) analyzes the SERP and your competitors, [Opportunities](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-opportunities) surfaces what to work on, and the editor takes you to a publish-ready draft — text and images — with real-time SEO and GEO scoring to optimize new and existing content.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Publish — Your CMS or Frase CMS</strong></summary>

One click sends the finished article live to [WordPress](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/wordpress), [Webflow](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/webflow), [Sanity](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/sanity), [Wix](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/wix), or [Frase CMS](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) — no copy-pasting, no reformatting.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Monitor — SEO Analytics &#x26; AI Visibility</strong></summary>

Found in the *Analyze* section. [SEO Analytics](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/seo-analytics) tracks your Google rankings, and [AI Visibility](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo#ai-visibility-tracking) tracks where you get cited across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI — with an alert the day your share of voice moves.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Fix — Content Guard</strong></summary>

Found in the *Site* section. [Content Guard](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard) watches your live pages, catches a drop in rank or traffic, drafts the revision, and waits for your approval before republishing. And the loop continues.

</details>

### Your Workspace at a Glance

{% hint style="success" %}
**The site selector** in the top left lets you switch between connected domains. If you manage multiple sites, this is how you context-switch between them.
{% endhint %}

Frase's navigation is one sidebar, organized around the content loop. **Home** and **Projects** stay pinned at the top; everything else is grouped by what you're doing:<br>

* **Create** — Research, Content, and your Content Projects. Where you spend most of your time making and improving content.
* **Optimize** — Audit, Site Health, Issues, and Content Guard. Your site health and monitoring hub.
* **Monitor** — SEO Analytics and AI Visibility. Where you track Google rankings and where you get cited across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI.
* **Publish** — Frase CMS and your Frase-hosted pages, including theming, style, and layout.
* **Answers** — Everything for the Frase Answers agent widget: playground, knowledge, setup, chat style, embedding, and activity.
* **Automate** — Agent and MCP-driven workflows that run on your behalf.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Looking for **Clusters**? It's now a lens inside **Opportunities** instead of its own menu item.
{% endhint %}

### The Three Ways People Use Frase

Most users fall into one of three modes — and you'll probably use all three at different times.

**"I want to create something new."** Start with **Create** > *Research* or *Content*. Frase analyzes the SERP competition, builds a brief, and gets you to a publish-ready draft faster than doing it manually. If you prefer Frase to only handle the research and brief, choose our "Write Yourself" writing mode.

**"I want to fix what I already have."** Start with **Create** > *Opportunities*, **Optimize** > Site Health, or **Analyze** > SEO Analytics. These tell you what's underperforming and why — and feed directly into the optimization workflow.

**"I want to know where I stand."** Start with **Analyze** > AI Visibility or SEO Analytics, or your Dashboard. These give you the signal layer: where your brand shows up, what's working, and what's at risk.

### The Frase Agent

The Agent is available throughout the product via the chat interface. It's not a help bot — it's an operational assistant that can run workflows on your behalf to scale fast without the learning curve of using a new software.&#x20;

You can ask it things like:

* *"What should I create next?"*
* *"Run an audit and tell me what to fix first."*
* *"Write an article optimized for AI visibility on this topic."*
* *"What's my brand's AI visibility score and how do I improve it?"*

{% hint style="success" %}
The Agent knows your site, your content, and how the product works. When you're not sure what to do next, start there.
{% endhint %}

### What to Do First

1. [**Connect your site and brand**](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/connect-your-site-and-brand) — Add your domain in the top left, let Frase crawl it, and review your [Brand Hub ](/feature-reference/brand-hub)profile.&#x20;
2. [**Connect Google Search Console**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) and [Google Analytics](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-analytics-4) — Add your GSC account in the [SEO Analytics](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/seo-analytics) section of the sidebar and unlock Content Opportunities and [Content Guard](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/publish-and-protect#protecting-your-content-with-content-guard). Add GA4 to monitor AI referral traffic in [AI Visibility.](/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo)
3. [**Run your first audit** ](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/audit-my-site)— Get a baseline picture of your site's health before doing anything else.&#x20;
4. [**Set up Frase Answers**](/feature-reference/frase-answers) [ ](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/audit-my-site)— This will bring in live content gaps so you can build around real demand.
5. [**Explore your Opportunities**](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-opportunities) — Once your data is connected, Frase will start surfacing what to work on first.

# Connect Your Site & Brand

Three setup steps that give Frase the context it needs to work for you.

Before Frase can surface Opportunities, write content in your voice, or track your brand in AI search, it needs to understand who you are. That means connecting your site, letting Frase crawl it, and reviewing what it finds. This takes about five minutes and makes everything else in the product significantly more useful.

Here's how to do it.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/RW2aFwJR9Ss>" %}

### Step 1: Add Your Site

In the top left corner of the app, you'll see a site selector dropdown. Click it and select **Add Site**. Enter your domain and let Frase run its initial crawl.

When the crawl completes, Frase automatically populates three sections of your [Brand Hub](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub):

<details>

<summary><strong>Profile</strong></summary>

Your business overview, tagline, target audience, brand values, tone of voice, and competitor matching criteria. Frase derives these from your site content. Review them and adjust anything that doesn't look right — the more accurate this is, the better your research, content scoring, and AI visibility tracking will be.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Competitors</strong></summary>

Brands that Frase has identified as competing with you, based on the criteria in your profile. You can add competitors manually, remove ones that don't belong, and update the matching criteria at any time. Keeping this list current matters because competitors listed here are tracked in your AI Visibility prompts.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Assets</strong></summary>

Visual elements extracted from your site, including logos, fonts, and brand colors. These are used in Frase CMS and content generation workflows to keep your visual identity consistent.

</details>

{% hint style="success" %}
Take a few minutes to review each section. The *Profile* & *Competitor* sections in particular shape how the AI writes for you, so it's worth getting right from the start.
{% endhint %}

### Step 2: Connect Google Search Console

[Google Search Console](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) is the data source that powers [Content Opportunities](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-opportunities), [SEO Analytics](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/seo-analytics), and [Content Guard](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/publish-and-protect#protecting-your-content-with-content-guard). Without it, Frase can still help you create and optimize content — but it won't have visibility into how your existing content is actually performing in search.

To connect it, open **Settings** and connect Google Search Console under your *Workspace* integrations, then follow the setup steps. It takes about two minutes.

Once connected, Frase starts pulling your real search data: clicks, impressions, rankings, and page-level performance. This is what allows it to surface opportunities like pages ranking just outside the top three, content that's losing traffic, and queries where you have impressions but aren't getting clicks.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Are you an agency trying to connect a client's GSC?** You'll need to have Owner-level access to their instance to connect to Frase. Reach out to <support@frase.ai> if you need help!&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Step 3: Run Your First Audit

With your site connected, [run a full site audit](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/audit-my-site) to get a baseline picture of your site's health. This is what Frase uses to identify technical issues, content gaps, and structural weaknesses that are quietly holding your rankings back.

Go to **Optimize** **→ Site Health** and start a new crawl. Findings are organized by severity — critical issues, warnings, and opportunities — so you know what to fix first without getting overwhelmed.

You don't need to fix everything before moving forward. The audit gives you a starting point. Come back to it as you work through the product.

### What Happens Next

Once these three steps are done, Frase has what it needs to start working for you. Your Opportunities tab will begin surfacing prioritized content recommendations. Your AI Visibility tracking will have competitors to measure against. And your content scoring will be calibrated to your market.

From here, explore your Opportunities, or head to the [Frase Agent](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent) and ask it what to tackle first.

# Meet the Frase Agent

Your built-in AI assistant for SEO work that actually ships.

The Frase Agent is built directly into the Frase product. It's not a helpbot or a chatbot. It's an operational SEO assistant that understands your site, your content, and your goals — and can execute workflows on your behalf from a single conversation.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/fYEwELG-fWU>" %}

### What the Frase Agent Is Really For

The Agent exists to remove friction and increase your speed.

You don’t need to know *where* to run research, *how* to create briefs, or *which* optimization tool to open. You just describe your goal, and the Agent handles the workflow end to end.

**Examples**

* *"What should I create next?"* The Agent analyzes your site data, content gaps, and opportunities, then gives you a prioritized recommendation.
* *"Audit my site and tell me what to fix first."* It runs the audit, interprets the findings, and surfaces the highest-impact issues in plain language.
* *"Write an article optimized for AI visibility on content marketing strategy."* It researches the topic, builds a brief, writes the draft, and scores it for both SEO and GEO before you open the editor.
* *"Optimize this article for GEO and improve its SEO score."* It analyzes the existing content, identifies specific gaps, and applies improvements directly.

### What It Can Help You Do

In one conversation, the Frase Agent can:

* **Research and plan:** Analyze and research keywords, competitors, and content gaps to find opportunities worth pursuing.\ <i class="fa-hand-point-right" style="color:$primary;">:hand-point-right:</i> “Research content gaps in the CRM software space.”
* **Create new content:** Generate briefs, full articles, and content optimized for both search engines and AI platforms.\ <i class="fa-hand-point-right" style="color:$primary;">:hand-point-right:</i> “Create a brief and write a comparison article for HubSpot vs Salesforce.”
* **Improve what already exists:** Identify specific SEO and GEO improvements and apply them automatically.\ <i class="fa-hand-point-right" style="color:$primary;">:hand-point-right:</i> “Optimize this article for GEO and improve its SEO score.”
* **Understand your site:** Run audits, detect keyword cannibalization, track AI visibility, and monitor performance.\ <i class="fa-hand-point-right" style="color:$primary;">:hand-point-right:</i> “Run a site audit and show me pages competing for the same keywords.”
* **Publish content:** Launch blog posts directly to your CMS, create topic clusters, and repurpose content across social and email channels.\ <i class="fa-hand-point-right" style="color:$primary;">:hand-point-right:</i> “Publish this article to WordPress as a draft and create a LinkedIn carousel.”

{% hint style="success" %}
**And if you’re still learning Frase?** The Agent can also explain how features work, what scores mean, and how to use the platform more effectively. If something doesn't look right, email us at <support@frase.io>.
{% endhint %}

### How to Get the Most Out of It

A few habits that make the Agent significantly more useful:

**Start with a clear goal, not a vague topic.** "Help me rank for project management software" will get you further than "write something about project management."

**Combine steps into one request.** The Agent is designed to chain workflows together. "Research this keyword, build a brief, and write a draft" is one request, not three.

**Let it handle the how.** The Agent's job is execution. Your job is direction and review. The more you lean into that division, the more productive the workflow becomes.

**Ask it what to do next.** If you ever open Frase and aren't sure where to start, that's a great first message. The Agent has context on your site and your content and can give you a grounded recommendation rather than a generic one.

### It Plans Around Your Strategy and Shows the Cost

When you ask the Agent to plan content, it works from your organization's existing content strategy instead of proposing in a vacuum, so its suggestions fit what you're already building. Before it writes an article, it tells you what that article will cost, so there are no surprises after the fact.

If the Agent can't do something, it says why and points you toward a way forward rather than giving a generic refusal. And when a playbook run is paused, you can see exactly which step it's waiting on from **Content > Playbooks > Runs**, instead of a run that only says "paused."

### A Note on What the Agent Knows

The Agent has access to your site data, your Brand Hub settings, your content library, and your performance data. This is what makes its recommendations specific to you rather than generic. The more you've set up in Frase — your brand profile, your connected integrations, your content history — the more useful the Agent becomes.

{% hint style="info" %}
The Agent is also aware of the page you're on. Ask something like "where do I click to change the date range?" and it answers about the screen in front of you, pointing to the actual buttons and controls it can see.
{% endhint %}

The Agent **does not** have the ability to access pricing or your plan or billing information. If you need further assistance, just reach out to our Support team at **<support@frase.io>**.

{% hint style="success" %}
If you haven't completed the setup steps yet, that's a good place to start before leaning heavily on the Agent. → *See:* *Connect Your Site and Brand*
{% endhint %}

{% endhint %}

### Add-Ons

Beyond your base plan, you can scale up specific parts of Frase as you need them. You manage all add-ons from **Settings →** [**Billing & Usage**](https://next.frase.io/settings/billing).

#### **Frase Answers**

Every Frase plan includes a free [**Frase Answers**](/feature-reference/frase-answers) widget, one per site. It's the conversational box that sits on your website, answers visitor questions from your content, and captures what people ask.

If you need more conversation volume than your plan's free tier covers, you can add it as a paid add-on.

#### **Frase CMS**

[**Frase CMS**](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) is Frase's hosted publishing option, included with every plan. If you don't have your own CMS, you can host your blog on Frase CMS instead of, or alongside, publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, or Wix.

#### **Extra Seats**

On **Professional** and **Scale**, you can add team seats for **$29/mo each**. Enterprise plans come with custom seats.

#### **Pay-As-You-Go Capacity**

On **Professional** and **Scale**, pay-as-you-go overages let you keep working past your monthly limits. It's optional and off by default, and it bills at the end of your cycle.

* **Professional:** $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page, $0.25 per AI prompt
* **Scale:** $4 per extra article, $0.40 per audit page, $0.20 per AI prompt

Starter maxes out at its monthly limits instead, so you'll never get a surprise bill.

#### **How to Purchase Add-Ons**

Go to **Settings →** [**Billing & Usage**](https://next.frase.io/settings/billing) to add seats, turn on pay-as-you-go capacity, and manage your Frase Answers and Frase CMS usage. Plan upgrades are prorated right away, and downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.

# Find Content Gaps and Track Results

Let Frase Answers turn questions your visitors ask into a content roadmap, then monitor search rankings and AI mentions after fixes.

[Frase Answers](/feature-reference/frase-answers) captures every question visitors ask your widget. The **Opportunities** and **Results** tabs are what Frase does with those questions: Opportunities turns them into a prioritized roadmap of content to work on, and Results measures what changed after you acted. So you're writing for demand you can see, then checking your work against real outcomes.

{% hint style="danger" %}
If you're new to Frase Answers, start with [this overview](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/frase-answers) for the full picture of how the capture-to-publish loop works.
{% endhint %}

### Before You Start

You'll need the [Frase Answers add-on](/get-started/plans-and-pricing) set up on your site, with your content crawled and indexed. If you haven't set up Answers yet, do that first so Frase has questions to learn from.

### The Opportunities Tab: Your Content Roadmap

The ***Opportunities*** tab reads the questions visitors asked your widget and classifies each one by the kind of content gap it represents:

* **Missing fact:** An answer your content doesn't cover yet.
* **Thin page:** A page that exists but doesn't fully answer the question.
* **New asset:** A gap that calls for a new piece of content.
* **Out of scope:** A question that isn't something you cover.

Each item carries a priority and a status, so you can triage the list and track what you've handled.

From here, you can route each question to the right next step, capture, optimize, or generate, or curate that first-party demand straight into a content brief.

{% hint style="info" %}
Answers Opportunities — visitor questions, thin pages, and missing facts — sit alongside your SEO opportunities in one board at Content → [**Opportunities**](/feature-reference/content-opportunities).
{% endhint %}

#### How to Triage Opportunities

1. Go to **Answers** and pick your site.
2. Open the *Opportunities* tab.
3. Work down the list by priority. For each question, review its gap type, then route it to capture, optimize, or generate, or send it straight into a brief.

Priority is set by demand, so you can work straight down the list.

### The Results Tab: What Actually Changed

The ***Results*** tab is your outcome view. After you act on a group of related questions, it shows the measured change in two things:

* **Search ranking,** from Google Search Console.
* **AI mentions,** from per-page citation snapshots that run on a daily job.

You'll see the themes you acted on with before-and-after ranking and AI-mention counts, so you can tell which work moved the needle.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Results are measured, not causal. The tab shows what happened to ranking and AI mentions after you acted, which is a useful signal, but it isn't proof that your change alone caused the shift. Other factors can move these numbers too.
{% endhint %}

#### How to Read Your Results

1. In **Answers**, with your site selected, open the *Results* tab.
2. Find a theme you acted on.
3. Compare the before-and-after ranking and AI-mention counts to see how the content performed after it went live.

{% hint style="info" %}
Start with the top few signals each week. Acting on a handful of high-demand recommendations consistently beats trying to clear the whole list at once.
{% endhint %}

### Frequently Asked Questions

**What's the difference between Opportunities and Results?**&#x20;

Opportunities is the plan: it turns visitor questions into a prioritized roadmap of content to create or improve. Results is the scoreboard: it shows the measured ranking and AI-mention changes after you act.

**How often do Opportunities update?**&#x20;

Once a week. New recommendations appear automatically based on the latest visitor questions.

**Do I have to act on every opportunity?**&#x20;

No. Dismiss anything that doesn't fit your strategy. Dismissed opportunities come off your list.

**What's the difference between "start research" and "enrich existing"?**&#x20;

"Start research" opens a new [research session](/feature-reference/deep-research) to create a brand-new piece. "Enrich existing" points you at a page you already have and sends it to [Content Guard](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard) to update.

# Audit My Site

Find what's holding your site back and know exactly what to fix first.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/-T_B4kVJxvc>" %}

Most SEO and GEO problems are invisible until they've already cost you rankings and citations. Pages with broken links, thin content, weak internal structure, or missing metadata don't announce themselves — they just quietly underperform.&#x20;

A **Site Health Audit** surfaces all of it in one pass and tells you what to prioritize so you're not guessing where to start.

### What a Site Audit Does

<figure><img src="/files/T5l5eveEDJ87qdGbky3U" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Frase crawls your site the way a search engine does, evaluating every page across several key areas:

<details>

<summary><strong>Technical issues</strong></summary>

Broken links, slow-loading pages, missing or incomplete meta tags, and other hidden blockers that hurt performance without obvious symptoms.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Content quality</strong></summary>

Thin content, duplicate titles, keyword stuffing, and other signals that weaken your relevance in search.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Site structure</strong></summary>

Navigation problems, weak internal linking, and pages that are difficult for search engines to crawl and LLMs to cite efficiently.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Opportunities</strong></summary>

Pages that are already close to ranking higher on the SERP and could get there with targeted improvements.

</details>

{% hint style="success" %}
Frase also detects keyword cannibalization (pages on your site competing for the same keywords) so you can resolve the overlap before it drags both pages down.
{% endhint %}

### Running an Audit

Go to **Optimize → Audits,** start a new crawl through the **New Audit** button, and choose your audit type.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ZzQcxOHnrCGpoUvQIOQp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

You have three options depending on what you need:

* **Full Site Audit** — Crawls up to your plan's page limit and gives you a comprehensive site-wide picture. Best for regular SEO work and full-site optimization.
* **Specific Section Audit** — Crawls a defined set of pages or sections. Faster, and ideal for spot checks, targeted improvements, or validating changes after an update.&#x20;
  * You can easily customize the audit by filtering to *unaudited pages only,* excluding previously audited pages, and more.
* **Custom URL List** —  Crawls only the entered pages you care about. Ideal for targeted audits on specific pages, categories, sections, etc.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/sQMDLuRIMURFBHSXFvk7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If this is your first audit, run a full crawl set to the max pages of your full site. You want the complete picture before you start making decisions.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Seeing pages Frase failed to crawl?** If you use Cloudflare, you may need to adjust your whitelist settings. Reach out to **<support@frase.io>** if you need help.
{% endhint %}

Once the audit has been run, you will see **site-wide findings** above your Pages table, so you can view and apply improvements with a wider scope.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/6cvughHNHhBgItnKykW9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can work from two views:

* **Pages** — site-wide findings, plus every page in the crawl with its scores. Click any row to open the page drawer and see the audit facts and how Frase classified that page.
* **Issues** — every problem found, grouped by severity. This is your task list.

<figure><img src="/files/o4jKOvmPSKSpidpkVaEb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Use the filters on the right to narrow your view, and manually exclude a page if you'd like it to stay out of the next audit.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/J0zxz9HOlaFAQaEeXhcL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Hit **Export** to download the fix pack, or the **Download** icon or **Share** to send the full site health report to your team or client.

#### How Findings Are Prioritized

Audit results are grouped into three levels:

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Critical** — Fix these first. These are the issues most likely to be actively hurting your rankings or preventing pages from being indexed correctly.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Warnings** — Important, but not urgent. Address these after critical issues are resolved.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Opportunities** — Areas where small improvements could yield meaningful gains. These aren't problems so much as untapped potential.
{% endhint %}

We recommend working from top to bottom. It sounds obvious, but it's easy to get distracted by a long list of warnings while a critical issue sits unresolved.

#### Best Practices for Getting the Most Out of Audits

* **Run your first audit before doing anything else in Frase.** It gives you a baseline to work from and often surfaces quick wins you wouldn't have found otherwise.
* **Prioritize site-wide changes and critical issues.** These cover identified issues across multiple pages or with the highest SEO impact, so fixing them early can save you time and help you ramp up fast.
* **Re-run after major changes.** Whenever you publish a batch of new content, restructure navigation, or make technical updates, run a fresh audit to confirm things improved and catch anything new.&#x20;
  * Be sure to wait at least 72 hours so the page has time to be re-indexed by Google.
* **Use specific section audits for fast checks.** You don't always need a full crawl. If you just updated a section of your site, audit that section and move on.
* **Watch for cannibalization.** If two or more pages are competing for the same keyword, neither one will rank as well as a single strong page would. The audit flags this — don't ignore it.
* **Let the**[ **Frase Agent** ](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent)**interpret your results.** If you're looking at a list of issues and aren't sure what to tackle first, ask the Agent. It can read your audit findings and give you a plain-language action plan.

{% hint style="success" %}
After your audit, your next step is usually [**Content Opportunities**](/feature-reference/content-opportunities) — where Frase uses your site data and [Search Console ](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console)connection to surface exactly what to create or improve next.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Need more audit pages?** Your audit pages refresh every billing cycle. If needed, Pro, Scale, and Enterprise customers can turn on ***Overages*** to [bill extra credits past their plan's limits](#user-content-fn-1)[^1], minimizing interruptions between cycles. Manage these from your *Settings > Billing & Usage > Overage Settings.*
{% endhint %}

# AI Visibility & GEO

Track where your brand shows up in AI search and optimize your content to get cited.

Search has changed more in the last two years than in the previous ten. [More than 50% of Google searches now end without a click. When an AI Overview appears, that number climbs past 80%.](https://www.frase.io/blog/content-optimization-is-dead) And platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude are becoming discovery and recommendation engines that millions of people use daily to find tools, services, and answers.

The brands that show up in those AI responses get traffic that's already pre-qualified. Someone who found you through a ChatGPT recommendation didn't just click a link — they were told about you. That's a fundamentally different kind of visitor.

### AI Visibility vs. GEO

AI Visibility and GEO are closely related but distinct:

1. **AI Visibility** is about tracking. It tells you whether your brand is showing up in AI-generated responses, which platforms mention you, how you compare to competitors, and how that changes over time.
2. **GEO** is about optimization. It tells you how well your content is structured to be extracted, trusted, and cited by AI systems — and gives you specific improvements to make.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Together, they answer two questions:** Where do I stand? and What do I do about it?
{% endhint %}

### AI Visibility Tracking

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/V2jfrewLVTI>" %}

#### How It Works

AI Visibility starts with prompts — real questions people ask AI systems. You add prompts related to your industry, products, and competitors, and Frase regularly queries AI platforms with those prompts to track when your brand is mentioned or cited.

Over time, this builds a reliable visibility signal: not a one-time snapshot, but a trend line that shows whether your brand's presence in AI search is growing, shrinking, or holding steady.

#### What You Can See

Once your prompts are set up, Frase gives you:

* **Share of Voice Score** — Your overall visibility across all tracked prompts, compared to competitors.
* **Platform breakdown** — Which AI platforms mention you most (and which don't mention you at all).
* **Sentiment and trend velocity** — Whether your visibility is improving and how quickly.
* **Head-to-head competitor comparisons** — Who dominates the conversation in your space and where you have ground to make up.
* **Bonus:** LLM crawls and mentions via [**Crawler Logs**](#additional-tracking), and LLM referrals via [**AI Referrals**](#additional-tracking)

#### Setting Up Good Prompts

The quality of your tracking depends on the quality of your prompts. Vague prompts give you vague signals. Specific prompts tell you exactly where you stand.

Think about prompts in three tiers that map to how real buyers use AI search:

* **Awareness prompts** — broad, exploratory queries. *"Best content optimization tools," "SEO tools comparison."* High competition for citations, but high volume of people asking them.
* **Consideration prompts** — problem-oriented, more specific. *"How do I fix content decay automatically," "tools for optimizing content for AI search."* This is where mid-funnel buyers are researching solutions.
* **Decision prompts** — late-stage comparison queries. *"\[Competitor] alternatives," "\[Your product] vs \[Competitor]."* The person is close to a buying decision and evaluating options.

Strong prompt types include:

* *"Best \[your product category]"*
* *"\[Industry] tools comparison"*
* *"\[Problem] solutions"*
* *"\[Competitor] alternatives"*

A well-rounded prompt set covers all three tiers. A common mistake is only tracking awareness prompts and missing the consideration and decision queries where you may actually be winning or losing customers.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Pro tips**

* **Start with 10–20 prompts across all three tiers.** Aim for 3–5 per tier, per core use case. This gives you enough coverage to spot patterns — where you're showing up, where you're not, and whether gaps are consistent or random.
* **Don't optimize early. Observe first.** Run your initial prompt set for 2–4 weeks before drawing conclusions. AI citation patterns have natural variance — you need a baseline before you can measure movement.
* **Expand prompts around your competitive set.** For each direct competitor, add at least one "\[Competitor] alternatives" and one "\[Competitor] vs \[You]" prompt. This is often where the most actionable gaps surface.
* **Add prompts when you publish new content.** If you write a piece targeting a specific use case or pain point, add a matching prompt. This connects your content investment directly to visibility measurement.
  {% endhint %}

#### Additional Tracking

Frase has additional ways to track your AI Visibility to help you build a more complete picture of where you stand in LLMs.&#x20;

* **Crawler Logs** help you track total **crawls** or **mentions** from major LLMs. These require you to install a tracking snippet on your website to pull data into Frase.
* **AI Referrals** pull in data from a connected [Google Analytics 4 (GA4)](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-analytics-4) account to show you which AI platforms are bringing real **traffic** to your site.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/5l0CKxhtfP1QkTnLdKSE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### GEO Optimization

#### What the GEO Score Measures

[Your GEO Score](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-scores-explained#geo-score-generative-engine-optimization) appears in the content editor alongside your [EEAT Score](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-scores-explained#eeat-score) and [SEO Score](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-scores-explained#seo-score). It measures how easily AI systems can extract, understand, and reference your content — essentially, will AI trust this enough to use it?

<div><figure><img src="/files/Nrm7rZrBJDHNwwyLpv2M" alt="" width="314"><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/L58f8JXaM7D5QW3A9NFZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Specifically, GEO evaluates:

* **Direct answer potential** — Can AI pull a clear, concise answer from this content?
* **Citation worthiness** — Is the information authoritative and specific enough to be quotable?
* **Structured information** — Are facts, stats, and definitions easy to parse?
* **Question coverage** — Does the content explicitly answer the kinds of questions AI systems are asked?

#### How to Improve Your GEO Score

The content that gets cited most often by AI systems tends to share a few characteristics. It gives direct answers rather than implying them. It uses clear structure (headings, lists, and definitions) that makes individual sections extractable. It cites authoritative sources rather than making unsupported claims. And it covers questions explicitly rather than burying the answer in paragraphs of context.

Practically, that means:

* **Add clear definitions.** If your article is about a concept, define it directly and early. AI systems frequently pull definitions verbatim.
* **Include concrete data points.** Statistics with clear attribution are among the most citable elements in any piece of content.
* **Answer questions explicitly.** Don't write around the answer. State it, then explain it.
* **Use structured formats.** Lists, tables, and FAQs aren't just good for readability — they're easy for AI systems to parse and extract.
* **Cite credible sources.** Linking to authoritative external sources signals that your content is well-researched. AI systems use this as a trust signal.

{% hint style="success" %}
**A note on SEO vs GEO:** These aren't competing priorities. A well-structured, well-cited, authoritative article tends to rank well on Google and get cited by AI for the same underlying reasons. Frase scores both simultaneously so you don't have to choose.
{% endhint %}

### Turning AI Visibility Into a Content Strategy

The most useful thing you can do with your AI Visibility data is let it drive content decisions.

* If a competitor consistently appears in prompts where you don't, that's a gap. Frase can analyze what they're doing differently — topic coverage, content structure, citation patterns — and surface what you need to create or update to compete.
* Review your visibility trends monthly. Add prompts when you launch something new. Watch for competitors gaining ground in spaces you care about. Use those signals to decide what to optimize or create next.

AI visibility isn't something you set up once and forget. It's an ongoing signal that gets more useful the longer you track it.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Need more AI Visibility prompts?** Pro, Scale, and Enterprise customers can turn on ***Overages*** to [bill extra credits past their plan's limits](#user-content-fn-1)[^1], minimizing interruptions between billing cycles. Manage these from your *Settings > Billing & Usage > Overage Settings.*

# Create New Content that Ranks

From opportunity to published article — one connected workflow.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/gGYsNM7J33c>" %}

Great content starts with understanding what's worth creating, what the people searching for it actually need, and what it takes to outperform what's already ranking.&#x20;

Frase connects all of that into one workflow so you're not stitching together five different tools to write one article.

Frase lets you choose from various **content types.** This article walks you through the full creation flow from start to finish.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/YQ2Pnx2fb3McslKVaJ7c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Choose Your Starting Point

There's no single right way to create content in Frase. The path you choose depends on whether you're researching a topic and want deep control, creating something new, or improving something that already exists.

<figure><img src="/files/K1yxHIVjMnDsKs6d6eRp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<details>

<summary>Research First</summary>

Best for strategic content, pillar pages, content programs, or when you want full control over SERP competitor analysis and structure before writing begins.

Go to **Create** → **Research**. From there you can explore a topic, analyze competitors, find content gaps, and build a brief before a single word of the article is written. This approach gives you the deepest strategic foundation.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Generate a New Article</summary>

Best for speed, individual blog posts, or when you want Frase to handle the strategy in the background.

Go to **Create → Content**, or click the **+ New Article** button and select **Generate Article**. Frase immediately begins researching the topic, analyzing the SERP, decoding search intent, and identifying keyword opportunities — all while you fill in the basics. The research feeds directly into your brief and outline, so by the time you're ready to write, the strategic groundwork is already done and you're free to revise as needed.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>Optimize Existing Content</summary>

Already have something published or drafted? Go to **Create → Content, c**lick **+ New Article,** and select **Optimize Existing**. Import content from a live URL, Google Docs, Notion, or by pasting it directly. Frase analyzes it against current top-ranking competitors and surfaces specific improvements for SEO and GEO.

This is often the fastest path to meaningful traffic gains. A page that already has some ranking history will respond to a targeted refresh faster than a brand new page will to initial publication.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Start from Scratch</summary>

Best for when you already know what you want to write and just need a clean editor. No automated brief, research, or AI generation, but access to our AI tools. Content scores appear once you start writing.

</details>

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** When you click **+New Article**, Frase will do the heavy lifting applying research to automatically create your brief. If you prefer more control, you'll want to instead start with **Frase's** [**Deep Research**](/feature-reference/deep-research).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Use our [CMS integrations ](https://docs.frase.io/integrations)to easily import blog posts in need of optimization directly from Wordpress, Sanity, [Frase CMS](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms), and more.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### The Brief

Every article in Frase is built on a brief, whether you create it deliberately or Frases generates it automatically. The brief is the bridge between research and writing — it's where strategy becomes structure.

A complete brief includes:

* A section-by-section outline built from SERP analysis
* Target keywords and topic coverage based on real competitor data
* Evidence mapped to specific sections — stats, quotes, supporting facts
* A do's and don'ts guide to keep the article on track
* Content type, tone, and audience direction

{% hint style="success" %}
Before you write anything, take a few minutes to review the brief. Adjusting the structure here is much faster than restructuring a finished draft. Getting the brief right is the highest-leverage moment in the entire workflow.
{% endhint %}

You can customize the brief manually, refine specific sections, or approve what Frase generated and move straight to writing.

### Writing the Article

Frase lets you choose writing assignments, so you can match the workflow to how your team actually works.&#x20;

From the brief, scroll to the "*Article Outline"* section and click the "**Assign"** button. Then, choose whether Frase or your team writes the upcoming article.&#x20;

You can opt to only have Frase write particular sections if you wish (*"Split work"*) by assigning specific sections to a user. &#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/aUT6ycd4B7l5dinDWVLr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<details>

<summary><strong>Frase Writes</strong> </summary>

Frase generates the complete article from the brief. Best for speed and scale. You review, refine, and optimize the output.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>You Write</strong> </summary>

The outline is generated (meaning, your selected headers move into the Editor), but you write every section yourself. Best for full creative control or when a specific voice is essential.

</details>

{% hint style="success" %}
Whichever mode you choose, the editor gives you real-time feedback as you write. [Content scores](/feature-reference/content-scores-explained) update continuously so you can see how your article is performing against competitors as you build it.
{% endhint %}

### Using the Checklist Tab

The ***Checklist*** tab is key to understand your content's overall structure, quality, and publish readiness. It includes several sections:

* **Topic coverage** — Manage your content's primary and secondary keywords. Add and edit queries, set keyword priority, and track coverage with ease.
* **Structure checklist** — Apply suggestions to integrate keywords into your copy for maximum readability, and explore additional SERP competitor headings.&#x20;
* **Authority checklist** — Track your content's authority signals like author profiles, credentials, claims, sources, and quotes. Add recommended evidence into your content for a boost.
* **Meta Tags** — Assess if your meta titles and meta descriptions are optimized for SEO before you go live.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
To fill meta tags fast, click **Generate** on either field and Frase writes a meta title and description from your finished article, keeping each within its length limit.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/hzo3ra5DtyKrFrrxBQJM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Understanding Your Content Scores

Three scores appear in the top right corner of the editor as you write:

* **EEAT Score** — How well your content meets Google's quality guidelines around expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. Author bios, credentials, citations, and content depth all contribute.
* **GEO Score** — How easily AI systems can extract, trust, and cite your content. Structured formatting, direct answers, concrete data, and credible citations all push this score up.
* **SEO Score** — How well your content aligns with on-page SEO best practices and keyword coverage compared to top-ranking pages. A score in the 70 to 85 range is generally solid. Focus on coverage, not keyword stuffing — if competitors consistently mention something you don't, that gap shows up here.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Don't chase perfect scores.** Use them as a compass **(70 or above is great)**. If one score lags significantly behind the others, that's where to focus next.
{% endhint %}

### Optimizing Your Draft

Once a draft exists, Frase gives you specific, actionable suggestions for improving each score. You can apply them with one click or make manual edits where you want more control.

A few things worth doing before you publish:

* Review keyword placement, especially in headings (see the *Checklist* tab)
* Check that your article explicitly answers the questions your audience is searching for
* Add any missing data points, definitions, or citations that your GEO score is flagging
* Make sure internal links to related content are in place

{% hint style="success" %}
The [Frase Agent](/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent) (see the *"Ask AI"* tab in the Editor) can help here too. Ask it to review your draft and identify what's most worth improving before you publish.
{% endhint %}

### Publishing

When your article is ready, click [**Publish**](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard) in the upper right corner. Choose your destination — [WordPress](/integrations/cms-publishing/wordpress), [Webflow](/integrations/cms-publishing/webflow), [Sanity](/integrations/cms-publishing/sanity), [Wix](/integrations/cms-publishing/sanity), or [Frase CMS](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) — and select whether to push it as a live post or a draft for final review.

Frase doesn't assume. You decide when and how it goes live.

{% hint style="success" %}
After publishing, consider setting up [**Content Guard**](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard) to monitor the article's performance automatically. → *See:* [*Publish and Protect*](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard)
{% endhint %}

### Importing and Optimizing Existing Content

Frase isn't just for net-new content. You can [import any existing article](#optimize-existing-content) — from a live URL, Google Docs, Notion, [CMS integration](https://docs.frase.io/integrations), or by pasting the text directly — and Frase will analyze it against current top-ranking competitors and surface specific improvements.

This is often the fastest path to meaningful traffic gains. Refreshing a page that already has some ranking history is usually more effective than starting from scratch.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Need more articles?** Pro, Scale, and Enterprise customers can turn on ***Overages*** to [bill extra credits past their plan's limits](#user-content-fn-1)[^1], minimizing interruptions between billing cycles. Manage these from your *Settings > Billing & Usage > Overage Settings.*
{% endhint %}

[^1]:

# Optimize Existing Content

Improve what you've already published with data-driven recommendations for SEO, GEO, and EEAT.

Creating new content gets a lot of hype, but some of the fastest ranking gains come from improving what already exists. A page that already has search history, backlinks, and indexed content responds to optimization faster than a brand new page ever will. This article walks you through how to bring existing content into Frase and get actionable improvements in minutes.

### Two Ways to Import Existing Content

#### Through New Article

From the left sidebar, **Create → Content**, click the **+ New Article** button, then select **Optimize Existing**. You'll be taken to an import screen where you can choose how to bring your content in:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/3N3HmhIKX0tbg1s9lwI6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* **Paste Content** — Copy and paste text or rich HTML directly from any document.
* **From URL** — Import from a live webpage. Frase pulls the content directly from the published page.
* **From** [**Notion**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/notion) — Import from your connected Notion workspace.
* **From** [**Google Docs**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-docs) — Import from Google Docs using your connected account.

#### From Your CMS Posts

If you have a [CMS integration](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) connected, there's a faster path for importing published articles in bulk.

From **Create → Content, Y**ou'll see three tabs across the top of the content view: Articles, Briefs, and **CMS Posts**. Click CMS Posts and Frase will display all of the articles currently published on your connected site, along with their word count and health status.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/4EivwweaaoChOC6rTEyD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Find the article you want to work on and click **Import**. It opens directly in the editor, ready for analysis.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
This is especially useful when you're working through a backlog of existing content systematically — you can see everything in one place and pull in articles one at a time without leaving Frase.
{% endhint %}

### Keyword Research & the Checklist

When you open any piece of content in Frase, use the [***Keyword*** ***Research***](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/deep-research#how-to-research-for-existing-content) tab of the right sidebar to analyze your primary keyword against the SERP competition. &#x20;

Findings from Keyword Research flow into the ***Checklist*** tab.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/R4OZK2UiriWW3swQsMl7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

The ***Checklist*** tab is key to understanding your content's overall structure, quality, and publish readiness. It includes several sections:

* **Topic coverage** — Manage your content's primary and secondary keywords. Add and edit queries, set keyword priority, and track coverage with ease.
* **Structure checklist** — Apply suggestions to integrate keywords into your copy for maximum readability, and explore additional SERP competitor headings.&#x20;
* **Authority checklist** — Track your content's authority signals like author profiles, credentials, claims, sources, and quotes. Add recommended evidence into your content for a boost.
* **Meta Tags** — Assess if your meta titles and meta descriptions are optimized for SEO before you go live.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/hzo3ra5DtyKrFrrxBQJM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Understanding Your Content Scores

Once your article is open in the editor, look to the right sidebar. You'll see your **Overall Score** — a combined optimization score that reflects how your content is performing across all three dimensions. Beneath it, Frase breaks that overall score into three individual content scores:

* **EEAT** — Google's quality rater guidelines. This measures whether your content demonstrates expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. Things like author credentials, citations, and content depth all contribute here.
* **GEO** — How easily AI systems can extract, trust, and cite your content. This score evaluates quotability, structure, definitions, key takeaways, and citable data.
* **SEO** — Traditional search engine signals. Keyword placement, meta tags, content structure, and readability all feed into this score.

{% hint style="success" %}
Each score runs on a 0 to 100 scale and updates in real time as you make changes. You can expand any of the three scores to see exactly which components are contributing to it and where the gaps are. [This article](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/content-scores-explained) goes into more detail.
{% endhint %}

#### Getting Improvement Suggestions

Click the green **Improve Score** button below your overall score. This opens the **Content Diagnostic** panel, which gives you a detailed breakdown of what's holding each score back and what to do about it.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/ykelJOApB9HITMYedoem" alt="" width="316"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

At the top of the panel you'll see your component scores across EEAT, GEO, and SEO — each broken down into specific signals. For example, GEO is composed of Quotability, Structure, Definitions, Takeaways, and Citable Data. If Quotability is at 48% while Definitions are at 95%, you know immediately where to focus.

Click the **Improve** button to optimize the score. From there, you have two ways to act on what you find:

#### AI Rewrite

Hands the improvement plan to Frase's AI to work through on your behalf. This is the fastest path to a meaningfully higher score and works especially well when you're moving through a backlog of articles and want to make progress without editing every piece by hand.

#### Manual Tips

A curated list of specific, actionable recommendations you can implement yourself. Each tip is labeled with its priority level (High, Medium, or Low), which score it affects, and how many points it's worth. For example:

* *Add citations and expert sources* — Reference authoritative sources, include expert quotes, and cite reputable publications or studies. (+20 EEAT points)
* *Add data and statistics* — Include specific numbers, percentages, and research findings to demonstrate expertise. (+17 EEAT points)
* *Write quotable statements* — Create clear, factual sentences between 10 and 35 words that AI systems can easily extract and cite. (+13 GEO points)

{% hint style="success" %}
This tab is particularly useful when you want full editorial control, or when a change requires context about your brand or audience that AI can't infer on its own.
{% endhint %}

### A Practical Approach to Optimizing a Backlog

If you're working through a library of existing content rather than a single article, here's an approach that works well.

1. Start with your highest-traffic pages. These are the ones where a ranking improvement has the most immediate impact. Use the *CMS Posts* tab to see all your connected articles in one place and prioritize from there.
2. For each article, open the Content Diagnostic and trigger the AI Rewrite first to handle Auto fixes quickly. Then review any AI-assisted changes before they're applied. Finish by working through the Manual Tips marked High priority — these tend to be the improvements that require a human touch, like adding expert citations or writing quotable statements specific to your subject matter.
3. Once an article is updated and republished, turn on Content Guard to monitor its performance automatically so you don't have to revisit it manually. → [*See: Publish and Protect*](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard)

{% hint style="success" %}
**How do I know which articles to optimize first?** Check your [SEO Analytics](/feature-reference/seo-analytics) for pages ranking between positions four and ten. These pages already have momentum and are closest to breaking onto page one. A targeted optimization pass here is usually the highest-return activity in any existing content library.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
{% endhint %}

# Publish & Protect with Content Guard

Get your content live and keep it performing after it ships.

Publishing is not the finish line. It's the beginning of a different kind of work — making sure the content you just created holds its position, stays current, and keeps driving results over time. Frase handles both sides of that: getting your content live without the usual friction, and monitoring it automatically once it is with Content Guard.

### Publishing Your Content

When your article is ready, look to the top of the editor. If you have a [CMS connected](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms), you'll see a **Publish to CMS** button — click it, choose your destination, and select whether to push the content as a live post or a draft for final review.

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2F9sc7TbIyWvf7cqFg2CLP%2FScreenshot%202026-04-24%20at%204.34.14%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=49461585-77b8-4b5e-9dbf-450859ac8553" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you haven't connected a CMS yet, that button will say **Connect CMS** instead. You have two options from there: connect your CMS to enable direct publishing, or use the **Share** tab on the right side of the editor to export or hand off your content without leaving Frase.

#### Publishing to Your CMS

Frase supports direct publishing to:

* [**Frase CMS**](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms) — Frase's built-in headless hosting option
* [**WordPress**](/integrations/cms-publishing/wordpress) — Creates a blog post instantly
* [**Webflow**](/integrations/cms-publishing/webflow) — Publishes to a CMS collection item
* [**Sanity**](/integrations/cms-publishing/sanity) — Sends content to your headless CMS
* [**Wix**](/integrations/cms-publishing/wix) — Launches content to your Wix Blog

To connect your CMS, go to **Settings → Integrations**, find your platform, and follow the connection steps. You authenticate once and every article is one click from your site after that.

{% hint style="success" %}
Frase doesn't assume how you want to publish. You choose whether content goes live immediately or sits in draft. Nothing is pushed without your decision.
{% endhint %}

#### Content Rule Checks&#x20;

The content rules you set in [**Brand Hub**](/feature-reference/brand-hub) — never-terms, readability, and quality thresholds — are enforced everywhere an article can go live, not only in the editor. The same check runs when you publish from the editor, through Content Scheduling, or over the API or MCP.

What happens depends on the rule's severity:

* A rule set to **error** severity blocks the publish and names the violation, so content that breaks a hard rule can't reach your site.
* A rule set to **warning** severity lets you go ahead with a **Publish Anyway** confirmation.

Drafts stay ungated, so you can save work in progress freely. You manage these rules in **Brand Hub → Governance → Rules**.

#### Schedule Content to Publish Automatically

You don't have to publish everything by hand. From the **Calendar** view under **Content**, you can schedule an article for a future date and Frase publishes it for you when that day arrives, WordPress included.

Drag an article onto a day, or create one straight from the day cell. Open it to confirm the scheduled time and destination, and use the same control to unschedule it any time before it runs. Scheduled and manual publishes follow the same rules, so a post you schedule behaves exactly like one you push yourself.

{% hint style="info" %}
An article that's still generating can't be scheduled yet. Wait until it finishes, then set its date.
{% endhint %}

#### Set Content Types with Site Taxonomy

With [**Frase CMS**](/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms), you can publish content types beyond blogs, like alternatives, reviews, and FAQs, and Frase organizes each one into its own browsable section of your site.

You control which types are live in your site's taxonomy settings.

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FXqHJkKFFzc2ycON0hYj2%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=a22f4a6b-caf2-4e25-b19b-a8cd841a1379" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

On the left sidebar, go to **Frase CMS > Settings**, open *Taxonomy*, and enable the content types you want to publish.

Once a type is enabled, Frase automatically gives it:

* Its own public index page, so readers can browse that catalog (for example, `/alternatives/`, `/reviews/`, or `/faq/`)
* Its own sitemap entries and feed
* A clean separation from your blog. Your `/blog/` page shows blog posts only, so other content types don't mix in.

When you publish, pick the content type that matches the piece. If you choose a type that isn't enabled yet, Frase shows a yellow warning at publish time, so head back to *Taxonomy* and enable it first.

{% hint style="info" %}
Enable a content type before you publish to it. The index page and feed for that type only appear once the type is turned on in your taxonomy settings.
{% endhint %}

#### Exporting and Sharing

If you're not publishing directly to a CMS — or if your content needs to go somewhere else first — open the **Share** tab on the right side of the editor.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FEh4TDakeTn6YhrnZO0cO%2FScreenshot%202026-04-24%20at%204.35.16%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=4f1680e5-86a7-440d-8be9-1ee4d4a491a3" alt="" width="379"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

From there you can export the article as a file in several formats:

* **HTML** — Web-ready with styling intact
* **PDF** — A printable document
* **Markdown** — A formatted .md file
* **Plain Text** — A simple .txt file

You can also export directly to cloud tools you already use — **Notion** and **Google Docs** are available from the same menu.

If you need to share the article with a collaborator, client, or reviewer, the **Share** option in the same panel lets you hand off the article without publishing it publicly.

### Protecting Your Content With Content Guard

Content Guard is Frase's automated content monitoring system. Once you turn it on for a published article, Frase watches that page's performance using [Google Search Console](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) data and prepares an improved draft automatically when performance starts to slip.

You don't have to check rankings manually or remember to audit specific pages. Content Guard does that in the background and surfaces fixes when they're actually needed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2F4kmYk32SQQPmu1IlArSK%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=3c5f192e-ca13-436c-987c-315c767d7cdb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### How It Works

Frase monitors every article you've enabled for Content Guard. When ranking position drops, Frase generates a new draft version of the document with targeted improvements already applied.

Those improvements may include:

* **Meta tag updates** — Refreshed page titles and descriptions that better match current search intent.
* **Heading improvements** — Structural updates that improve clarity and relevance.
* **Internal link adjustments** — Strengthened connections to related pages that have been published since the original article went live.

You review the draft, decide what to keep, and push the update to your CMS when you're ready. Nothing changes on your live site until you approve it.

#### Setting Your Auto-Apply Policy

Content Guard gives you control over how much happens automatically versus how much waits for your review.

* **Always ask me** — Every suggestion waits in the Guard tab for your approval before anything changes. Nothing is touched without your sign-off.
* **Auto-apply safe fixes only** — Low-risk changes like meta descriptions and page titles are applied automatically when Content Guard is confident. Everything else still waits for review.
* **Advanced** — You define exactly which types of changes auto-apply and how confident Content Guard needs to be before acting.

{% hint style="success" %}
If you're managing a large content library and want minimal manual overhead, auto-applying safe fixes is a reasonable default. If you prefer full control over every change, keep it on Always Ask.
{% endhint %}

#### Requirements for Content Guard

Content Guard works when three conditions are met:

1. The article must have been originally created in Frase. Content Guard monitors documents inside the Frase workspace.
2. The article must have a published URL attached to it. Frase uses the URL to track performance in Search Console.
3. [Google Search Console](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) must be connected. Performance signals are what trigger the monitoring cycle.

If any of these aren't in place, Content Guard can't evaluate the page.

#### Turning Content Guard On

Content Guard is enabled at the article level, not the site level. To turn it on for a specific article, open the article in Frase and toggle monitoring on in the editor sidebar.

You can view all guarded articles from **Write → Optimize** and filter to Guarded articles, and adjust the parameters if needed from **Settings → Content Guard**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Which articles should I guard first?** Start with your highest-traffic pages and your most important commercial pages. These are the ones where a ranking drop has the most impact and where early detection matters most. Once those are covered, work through your next tier of content systematically.
{% endhint %}

# Automate with Claude & MCP

What becomes possible when Claude can operate Frase on your behalf.

If you've used [Frase's built-in Agent](/get-started/meet-the-frase-agent), you already have a sense of what it looks like to describe a goal and have AI handle the execution. The MCP integration takes that further — it connects Frase directly to Claude, Anthropic's AI system, so you can operate the full Frase platform through a conversation in Claude Code.

This article is for people who want to understand what that means in practice and how to get started — no technical background required.

### What MCP Actually Is (In Plain Language)

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It gives Claude the ability to use Frase the same way you do — running research, creating briefs, auditing your site, finding content gaps, optimizing articles — but driven entirely by a conversation.

Instead of opening Frase, navigating to the right tool, and working through a workflow manually, you open Claude and describe what you want. Claude figures out which Frase tools to use, runs them in the right sequence, and brings the results back to you automatically.

The result is a seamless workflow that feels less like operating software and more like briefing a colleague who then goes and does the work.

### What You Can Ask Claude to Do

Here are some examples of what this looks like in practice:

* *"Find my top ten content gaps and create a brief for each one."*
* *"Run a site audit and give me a plain-language summary of the most critical issues."*
* *"Research this keyword, build a brief, and write a draft optimized for AI visibility."*
* *"Which of my published articles are showing signs of content decay?"*
* *"Create a content cluster around email marketing — pillar page plus five supporting article briefs."*
* *"What should I publish next based on my current opportunities?"*

Each of these would normally involve opening multiple tabs, running several tools in sequence, and synthesizing the results yourself. With the MCP connection, it's one request.

### Getting Started With Claude Code

Claude Code is Anthropic's command-line tool that lets Claude work directly with tools and services on your behalf. It's the environment where the Frase MCP connection runs.

Here's what getting set up looks like, step by step.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### **Install Claude Code**

Claude Code runs in your computer's terminal. If you've never used a terminal before, don't let that put you off — the setup is straightforward and you only do it once.

Go to [claude.ai/code](https://claude.ai/code) and follow the installation instructions for your operating system. You'll need Node.js installed on your computer first. If you don't have it, the Claude Code setup page will point you to where to get it — it's a free download and takes about two minutes to install.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### **Connect the Frase MCP Server**

With Claude Code installed, run the following command in your terminal — replacing the placeholder at the end with your actual Frase API key:

```
claude mcp add frase -- npx -y @frase/mcp-server --api-key sk_live_your_api_key
```

To find your API key, go to **Settings → API Keys** inside Frase and copy it from there. Once you run this command, Claude Code will automatically start the Frase server whenever it's needed. You only need to do this once.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### **Start a Session**

Once the setup is complete, open Claude and start a conversation like you normally would. The Frase MCP server runs in the background automatically — there's nothing extra to launch or configure.

To confirm everything is connected, try this as your first message:

*"List my connected Frase sites."*

If Claude responds with your site names, you're ready to go.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Need setup support?** We'd love to walk through this setup with you. Reach out to us at <support@frase.io> and we'll find a time to connect.
{% endhint %}

### What to Expect the First Time

The first session can feel a little different from using a regular chat interface. A few things worth knowing:

* **Claude will ask your permission before using each tool for the first time.** The first time Claude calls a Frase tool in a session, it will pause and ask whether you want to **Allow Once** or **Always Allow**. This is a safety feature built into Claude Code, not a sign that something is wrong.
  * Choosing **Allow Once** means Claude will ask again the next time it needs that same tool. Choosing **Always Allow** gives Claude permission to use that tool freely going forward without interrupting to ask.
* **Claude will tell you what it's doing.** As it works through a request, Claude describes the steps it's taking — which Frase tools it's calling, what it found, what it's doing next. This transparency is intentional. You're always in the loop.
* **Some requests take a moment.** When Claude is running a site audit or pulling research data, it's actually executing those workflows in Frase in real time. A request that involves multiple steps may take thirty seconds to a minute. That's normal.
* **You can ask follow-up questions.** The session is a conversation. If Claude surfaces ten content gaps and you want to go deeper on one of them, just ask. You can chain requests together naturally without starting over.
* **Claude won't make changes without telling you.** When Claude is about to do something consequential — creating a document, publishing content, running an audit — it will describe what it's about to do before it does it. You stay in control.

### A Few Things Worth Trying First

Once you're set up, here are some good starting requests to get a feel for what's possible:

1. Start with something low-stakes and informational — *"What are my top content opportunities right now?"* — to see how Claude interprets your data and presents results.
2. Then try a creation request — *"Research \[your keyword] and create a brief"* — to see the full research-to-brief workflow run end to end.
3. Then try something analytical — *"Which of my pages are ranking between position four and ten and are worth optimizing?"* — to see how Claude uses your Search Console data.

Each of these gives you a different window into what the integration can do. From there, the workflows you'll find most valuable will depend on your own content operation — what's most repetitive, what takes the most time, and where having a tireless collaborator would make the biggest difference.

### For Developers and Technical Teams

# Frase Answers

Turn real visitor questions into published content that ranks on Google and gets cited by AI

<figure><img src="/files/KG3kM8yAUlik2DsIGn3J" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Frase Answers is an AI answer widget built for content and marketing teams, SEO teams, agencies, and enterprises.

You add to your own site - it answers visitor questions using your existing content, and it captures every question people ask, in their own words.

Those questions become a first-party demand signal that drives the rest of the platform: tracking your [AI visibility](/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo), [drafting the content](broken://pages/2uTx5adaJcFNDEDCojCK) you're missing, and [publishing it to your CMS](/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard). Every unanswered question is a content brief writing itself.

{% hint style="info" %}
Nothing publishes on its own. Drafting is automated, but publishing is gated. A person on your team reviews and approves every piece before it goes live.
{% endhint %}

### How the Loop Works

Frase Answers connects four jobs that most teams buy as separate tools. The widget is the front door, and everything downstream runs on the demand it captures.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Visitors ask the widget

Real questions land on your site, in your visitors' own words.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Demand becomes a map

Questions cluster into AI-citation and Google-ranking gaps, so you can see what's worth creating.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### An agent drafts

Each gap becomes a brief and a first draft in your brand voice. Your team refines and approves.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### You approve, it publishes

After human review, one click publish to your CMS, and Frase measures the lift.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### New questions feed the next rotation

The loop keeps running on fresh demand.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### How to Set Up Answers

1. On the left sidebar, open **Answers**. Complete the setup wizard for your site.
2. On the *Knowledge* tab under the *Sources* section, run a website crawl to index your content. Be sure to add any other reference docs or other sources you'd like your widget to know.
3. Customize the widget's *Mascot, Chat style*, and *Voice* to match your branding. Run a few test sessions in the Playground, and modify as needed.
4. When you're ready to go live, open the *Embed* tab. Install the widget using the install instructions, and preview it in the app before it goes live.
5. Review what visitors ask. As questions come in, Frase surfaces the gaps as recommendations. See [Find Content Gaps with Answers Signals](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/answers-signals) for how to act on them.
6. Draft, approve, and publish. Turn a recommendation into a brief and first draft, review it, and publish to your CMS.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/smcXCaRrFM5AGd6jDW89" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Your Voice, Your Approval, Your Pace

Three things stay in your control:

* **Your brand voice.** Drafts are written in the voice you define via [Brand Hub DNA](/feature-reference/brand-hub).
* **Your approval.** No content publishes until someone on your team signs off.
* **Your pace.** Stay fully hands-on, or give the agent more autonomy as your trust grows.

{% hint style="success" %}
Your Answers widget can invite visitors who show buying intent to sign up. Open **Answers → Voice panel → Invite buyers to sign up**. The invitation only appears on a genuine, on-topic answer where the visitor shows purchase intent.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Need more control over responses?** Check the *Voice* tab to adjust your suggested questions, intro, fallback messages, and more.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/4YArat1iwwLCQqUJpprG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Plans and Pricing

Frase Answers is a per-site add-on with a 7-day free trial and no credit card required. You can buy a tier per site, see live usage for each one, and upgrade or cancel directly from billing.

Manage it in *Settings → Billing & Usage → Frase Answers* add-on, where you'll find a per-site tier picker and live usage meters. For current tiers and limits, see the [pricing page](https://www.frase.io/pricing).

### Frequently Asked Questions

**Does Frase publish automatically without my review?**&#x20;

No. Drafting is automated, but publishing is gated. You review and approve content before anything goes live. When you approve, one click publishes to WordPress, Sanity, Webflow, Wix, or Frase CMS.

**Where does the demand signal come from?**&#x20;

From your own visitors. The widget sits at your site's front door and records the exact questions people ask, in their own words. That's a cleaner signal than guessing from keyword tools, because it's your real audience asking about your real offering.

**How is Frase different from AI-visibility monitoring tools?**&#x20;

Most tools monitor and stop there. Frase closes the loop. It captures demand from your own visitors, drafts the missing content, publishes it to your CMS after you approve, and measures the lift.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Ready to get started?** Check out [this guide](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/find-content-gaps-with-frase-answers) to finding content gaps from your Frase Answers data.

# Brand Hub

Train Frase's system on your brand, and keep all content on-brand, consistent, and ready to ship.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/C2TlyKM2cwA>" %}

Brand Hub is where you define how Frase understands your brand.

By connecting your domain and configuring brand details, Brand Hub helps Frase identify your positioning, competitors, voice, and content standards. These signals are then used across the platform—from [research](https://docs.frase.io/content/deep-research) and [AI visibility tracking](https://docs.frase.io/site-analysis/ai-visibility) to [content creation](https://docs.frase.io/content/creating-content) and [publishing](https://docs.frase.io/content/publishing).

{% hint style="success" %}
Think of Brand Hub as the **foundation for content governance in Frase**. Once configured, it ensures your content reflects the same brand identity, messaging, and quality standards across every document your team produces.
{% endhint %}

## Your Brand

### Brand Profile

Your **Brand Profile** helps Frase understand your company’s identity and positioning.

After entering your **website domain**, Frase automatically analyzes your site and identifies key brand signals, including:

* Business overview
* Tagline
* Target audience
* Brand values
* Competitor matching criteria
* Site visual style (fonts, colors, images, and other elements)

{% hint style="success" %}
**Your brand styling powers Frase CMS.** Alongside text signals in your Brand Profile, Frase captures your *visual* style—colors, logo, fonts, shadows, sizes, corner roundness, etc. —on the ***Assets*** page, and you can review it from **View style read** on your Brand Profile. Frase uses this styling to automatically theme your Frase-hosted blog. Head to **Frase CMS** to customize the result.
{% endhint %}

### Competitors

Your **competitor matching criteria** determines how Frase identifies companies competing with your brand. These can be managed from the **Competitors** section of Brand Hub.

From this section, you can:

* Review detected competitors
* Updating competitor matching criteria
* Add additional competitors&#x20;
* Remove competitors&#x20;
* Search or filter competitors when needed
* Choose which competitors will be monitored and where data is used

{% hint style="success" %}
Maintaining this list ensures Frase tracks the most relevant companies in areas like [**AI Visibility**](/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo) monitoring and Content [**Opportunities**](/feature-reference/content-opportunities)'s content gaps and topic suggestions.
{% endhint %}

#### Confirm Discovered Competitors

Frase discovers competitors automatically, but a newly discovered competitor won't influence your data until it's confirmed.&#x20;

Until then, it appears in your list but stays out of gap mining, topic generation, and AI visibility.

Look for the review bar at the top of your competitors list. Confirm the ones that genuinely compete with you, and they start feeding gap analysis and topic suggestions. A competitor can also confirm itself when Frase has strong enough evidence.

### Assets

The **Assets** tab stores visual elements associated with your brand. Frase automatically extracts these assets from your website when you connect your domain.

Assets may include:

* Brand logos
* Icons
* Wordmarks
* Fonts
* Brand colors
* Image assets

You can upload additional assets manually if needed.

These assets can be used within tools like:

* Frase CMS
* Enterprise client portals
* Content generation workflows

{% hint style="success" %}
Managing assets here helps maintain consistent visual branding across content and publishing workflows.
{% endhint %}

## Writing

Frase's Brand Hub **Writing** tools define the branding and standards your content must follow.

Configure the following to guide how content is written and reduce editing time:

* Brand Voice profiles
* Terminology guidelines
* Reference documents
* Templates

<details>

<summary>Brand Voice</summary>

Brand Voice defines how your content *sounds*. You can create this from scratch OR upload a source doc for Frase to analyze and extract your voice from.

You can set:

* Tone (formal, conversational, authoritative, etc.)
* Target audience
* Voice identity
* Brand values & positioning
* Style, formatting, & vocabulary preferences
* Do's and don'ts
* Links & CTAs
* Example phrases that demonstrate your voice

Brand Voice profiles can be organization-wide or site-specific, and they're applied automatically—not only when Frase **generates new content**, but also when you **edit** **existing content**, so your voice holds up across the full workflow.

Voice carries through non-blog formats like service and product pages too, and a dedicated *Positioning Guidelines* field lets you spell out how your brand should be framed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Terminology</summary>

Brand Terms control the *language* your content uses.

You can define:

* **Preferred terms** — language you want to reinforce
* **Avoid terms** — discouraged but not forbidden
* **Never terms** — language that should never appear *(will make the content unpublishable until removed)*

Frase checks term usage in real time and flags violations before content goes live, helping you catch inconsistencies early, without slowing writers down.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Reference Docs</summary>

Reference Documents give Frase *context* it can trust.

You can upload things like:

* Product documentation and FAQs
* Style guides and brand guidelines
* Customer personas and industry knowledge
* Competitive analysis

These documents are automatically included in AI context when relevant, giving you more accurate, grounded content—and fewer rewrites.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Templates</summary>

Templates define the structure of your content and ensure content begins with a **consistent outline and format**. They can include elements like:

* Headers and sections
* Content structure
* Word count targets
* Field defaults

Frase provides **built-in templates** for common use cases. These can be duplicated and customized to match your organization’s needs.

You can also **extract a template from existing content**—Frase turns a piece you already trust into a reusable structure you can apply to future content.

When generating content, simply select a template to automatically apply the desired structure.

</details>

{% hint style="danger" %}
Under **Terminology**, categorizing a term as *"Never"* will prevent you from publishing any content that contains it until the term is removed, in order to protect your brand adherence. If you'd prefer Frase to flag these terms but not restrict publishing, use *"Avoid"* instead.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
In **Reference Docs**, *"Importance"* determines how documents are **prioritized** in the content writing flow. The only truly **guaranteed** docs are P*roduct Info* and *FAQ* types - so use these intentionally to teach Frase what's crucial to get right across all content.
{% endhint %}

## Workflow

Frase's Brand Hub **Workflows** streamline your content review and publishing.

With the below tools, you can assess your content readiness before it ships, and build flows that automate brief and content creation, checks, and approvals:

<details>

<summary>Rules</summary>

Rules automatically check content during publishing. These help enforce governance standards by identifying issues before content goes live.

Rules can check a range of conditions, including:

* Score threshold
* Term compliance
* Word count
* Required meta
* Link count
* Required sections
* Regex pattern match
* Verify chips
* Competitor filter (keeps named competitors out of generated content while preserving all research data)

Each rule can be set to its own severity level and scoped to a specific site, so standards can differ where they need to.

**Depending on how they are configured, rules can show warnings, flag issues, or block publishing until problems are resolved.**

Frase provides **pre-built rule templates** that can be customized to match your organization’s content standards. These rules help ensure content is publish-ready, consistent, and optimized for strong GEO signals.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can check Rule Status and adherence within any piece of content.
{% endhint %}

</details>

<details>

<summary>Playbooks</summary>

Playbooks turn your content process into repeatable workflows.

A playbook can combine multiple steps such as:

* Research
* Writing
* Quality checks
* Reviews and approvals

Once created, playbooks can be run directly from the **Content Hub**, allowing teams to execute consistent workflows with a single click.

For example, you might create playbooks for:

* SEO blog posts
* Product pages
* Quick content updates
* Campaign landing pages

Each playbook can be customized to match the requirements of different content types.

## How Brand Hub Fits Into the Workflow

Once Brand Hub is configured, its settings influence content creation, industry research, and competitor tracking across Frase.

When creating new content, you may see:

* **Eligible playbooks** available at the bottom of the workflow
* **Templates** available when generating new articles
* **Tone of voice** profiles to choose from

{% hint style="success" %}
These elements ensure content creation follows your organization’s defined processes, structure, and brand standards from the start.
{% endhint %}

#### **Here's Brand Hub in a nutshell**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Planning

Reference docs inform research and briefs
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Writing

Brand voice shapes tone and style automatically
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Review

Term compliance flags issues before publishing
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Scaling

With rules, templates, and playbooks, every piece of content follows the same standards
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### How Teams Get the Most Value

Frase's Brand Hub tools work best when you start simple and build intentionally.

#### **Start small**

* Create one default Brand Voice *(upload your style guide if you have one)*
* Add 10–15 core brand terms
* Set restricted or forbidden Terms early
* Upload necessary internal Reference Gocs
* Configure Rules aligned with your business objectives
* Customize Templates and Playbooks for different use cases

#### **Scale strategically**

* Use site-specific voices for different audiences
* Organize Terms by category (technical, industry, competitors)
* Set Reference Docs to "auto-include" when content topics match

# SEO Analytics

Turn search data into clear content priorities.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/ZUUrXHXfPOA>" %}

SEO Analytics in Frase connects directly to [Google Search Console](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) and turns raw search data into insights you can actually use.&#x20;

Instead of staring at charts and wondering what to do next, Frase helps you see **which content is working, which content needs help, and where the biggest** [**opportunities**](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-opportunities) **are hiding**.

{% hint style="success" %}
Frase helps you bridge the gap between performance data and content strategy.
{% endhint %}

### Why SEO Analytics Matters

Most teams have access to search data. Very few know how to act on it.

SEO Analytics in Frase is designed to answer the questions marketers actually care about:

* Which pages are driving results and which aren’t?
* Where am I close to ranking higher with minimal effort?
* What content is slipping and needs attention?
* What should I optimize next to move the needle fastest?

### How It Works

SEO Analytics pulls directly from **Google Search Console**—Google’s own data on how your site performs in search. And yes, we have an [integration](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console).&#x20;

Once connected, Frase continuously analyzes:

* Clicks and impressions
* Click-through rate (CTR)
* Average ranking position
* Query and page-level performance over time
* Page status (healthy, declining, or at risk)

{% hint style="success" %}
This is the same data Google uses internally, surfaced in a way that’s easier to interpret and act on.
{% endhint %}

### What You Can See at a Glance

<details>

<summary>What’s performing</summary>

Identify:

* Top queries driving traffic
* Pages consistently ranking well
* Content that delivers steady results

This tells you what to protect, replicate, and expand.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What’s underperforming</summary>

Surface:

* Pages losing rankings or traffic
* Content that’s stuck without improving
* Queries where impressions are high but clicks are low

These are signals that optimization—not net-new content—may be the fastest win.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where quick wins exist</summary>

One of the most valuable insights SEO Analytics provides: **pages ranking just outside the top results**.

Pages ranking in positions **4–10** are often one update away from meaningful traffic gains. Frase highlights these opportunities so you can prioritize fixes that pay off quickly.

</details>

### How to Turn SEO Analytics Into Action

Think of SEO Analytics as your **weekly decision engine**. The goal isn’t to analyze everything—it’s to decide what to work on *next*.

Here’s how marketers actually use these insights.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Start with what’s close to winning

Pages ranking in positions **4–10** are your fastest wins.

{% hint style="success" %}
These pages already have momentum. A small update—better coverage, clearer structure, improved relevance—can move them onto page one and unlock meaningful traffic.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Refresh Before You Create Net-New Content

SEO Analytics help you see when existing content needs attention.

Look for:

* Pages losing impressions or rankings
* Content that’s slipping as competitors update theirs
* Queries where visibility remains high but engagement drops

{% hint style="success" %}
In many cases, refreshing or expanding an existing page delivers better results than publishing something brand new. You’re strengthening what search engines already recognize.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Create New Content With Better Direction

Once existing opportunities are addressed, analytics helps you create smarter new content.

Use search data to:

* Identify topics gaining impressions but lacking strong pages
* Spot keyword themes competitors are winning
* Time content creation around seasonal or rising trends

{% hint style="success" %}
This ensures new content starts aligned—rather than needing heavy optimization later.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Keep Strategy and Execution Connected

The real advantage of SEO Analytics in Frase is that insights don’t live in isolation.

Performance data feeds directly into:

* [Content Opportunities](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-opportunities) (what to optimize next)
* Optimization tools (how to improve it)
* Research workflows (what to create with confidence)

{% hint style="success" %}
Analytics doesn’t just tell you what happened—it guides what you do next.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

# Content Opportunities

Discover data-driven ways to improve your content

Opportunities in Frase automatically discovers and prioritizes the best content you should create or update based on actual [performance data](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/seo-analytics), competitive gaps, and scalable SEO strategies.

Instead of guessing what to publish next, Opportunities shows you where ranking gains are most achievable and which actions will drive the biggest impact.

<figure><img src="/files/o1UQMozuWE4XyAuB42QE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### How It Works

Opportunities pulls data from multiple sources and scores each idea based on impact and effort so you can focus on what actually moves the needle.

{% hint style="success" %}
The system continuously evaluates your data and surfaces prioritized recommendations.
{% endhint %}

#### What's Analyzed

Opportunities automatically analyzes:

* [**Google Search Console**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) *(if connected)*\
  Discover ranking opportunities and content gaps based on your actual search data.
* **Content Decay**\
  Identifies declining pages and any lost traffic.
* **Competitor Gaps**\
  See topics competitors rank for that you don’t, with competitor ranking info for each keyword.
* **Programmatic Detection**\
  Identifies scalable SEO templates (comparisons, location pages, integrations). **Click the rescan icon to set these up.**&#x20;
* [**Frase Answers**](/feature-reference/frase-answers) **Opportunities**

  Visitor questions, thin pages, and missing facts can be turned into content fast.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note:** Frase mines opportunities from the **three primary competitors** set in your [Brand Hub](/feature-reference/brand-hub). If you're not seeing opportunities from a competitor you care about, make sure it's set as primary, then re-scan.
{% endhint %}

#### Smart Scoring System&#x20;

Each opportunity receives a score based on these weighted factors:

* **Impact (35%)** — Traffic potential from ranking improvements
* **Effort (25%)** — How much work is required
* **Speed (20%)** — How quickly results can be seen
* **Strategic Value (20%)** — Long-term business impact

{% hint style="success" %}
This scoring system helps you focus on opportunities that deliver meaningful results without overcommitting resources.
{% endhint %}

### Types of Opportunities

Frase organizes opportunities into these core categories:

<details>

<summary><strong>Quick Wins</strong></summary>

Google Search Console pages currently ranking **positions 3–20** that could realistically jump to page one with optimization. These are often the fastest ROI opportunities.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Competitor Gaps</strong></summary>

Topics your competitors rank for — but you don’t. These represent missed traffic and market share.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Content Decay</strong></summary>

Existing pages that are **losing rankings or traffic**. Refreshing and re-optimizing these can restore performance quickly.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Programmatic SEO</strong></summary>

Scalable page templates such as:

* Comparison pages
* Location pages
* Integration pages

These allow you to generate multiple SEO-driven pages efficiently at scale.

</details>

<figure><img src="/files/G79t7EIOcvN0sOQ4SaKr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Frase checks your suggestions against what your site already covers, so your Opportunities list stays focused on gaps you haven't filled yet.
{% endhint %}

### Optimization Workflow

Once you identify an opportunity, Frase gives you three action paths:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Create Brief

Plan structure, intent, and optimization strategy before writing.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Generate Content

Write the article immediately using AI.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Update Existing

Refresh and optimize declining content.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Best Practices

To get the most out of Opportunities:

1. Start in the **Quick Wins** view (high impact, low effort).
2. Create briefs for your top-scoring opportunities.
3. [Generate content](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-creation) once your brief is finalized.
4. Use optimization suggestions to improve rankings further.
5. Run scans as needed — a 24-hour cooldown prevents redundant lookups between scans.

This structured flow ensures your content strategy stays aligned with [measurable SEO gains](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/seo-analytics).

{% hint style="info" %}
Opportunities skips topics your brand has chosen to avoid. Manage these under **Brand Hub** → *Never* Terms with the *Excluded topic* category.
{% endhint %}

# Deep Research

Turn uncertainty into clarity before you ever open a blank page.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/IboSP9nHyZI>" %}

Frase Research is how you decide what's worth creating, how it should be structured, and where you actually have a chance to win.

It helps you understand what search engines expect, what competitors are doing well, and where opportunities exist that others haven't captured yet.

### Why Research Comes First

Research helps you answer the right questions *before* you invest time writing.

* Is this topic even worth pursuing?
* What's already working in this space?
* What does Google expect to see here?
* Where can my content do something better—or different?

Research is necessary to write relevant, valuable, and optimized content.

### The 3 Types of Research in Frase

Frase offers three distinct research types. Each one helps you answer a different strategic question before you write.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FbJ6I326JYm4rszjtYbcV%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=c5d6b950-d608-491e-8243-8375027639e8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<details>

<summary>Build a Brief from a Topic</summary>

**Use this when you're deciding what to write about.**

Topic Research analyzes a keyword or idea at a high level so you can quickly judge demand and competitiveness.

It helps you:

* Validate ideas before committing
* Understand search interest
* See related questions and opportunities

{% hint style="success" %}
This is often where content planning begins
{% endhint %}

</details>

<details>

<summary>Topic Research</summary>

**Use this when you're devising a larger content plan.**

Map subtopics, see what ranks in search, and how ideas cluster together before you choose what to write.

It helps you:

* Improve topical authority
* Optimize programmatic SEO strategically
* Visualize content clusters

</details>

<details>

<summary>Find Gaps</summary>

**Use this when you want to find opportunities you're missing.**

Content Gap Research identifies topics and keywords competitors rank for that you don't.

It's especially useful for:

* Finding high-impact content ideas
* Expanding topical coverage
* Catching up—or pulling ahead

{% hint style="success" %}
Many teams start here to prioritize what to create next.
{% endhint %}

</details>

### **How Research Works**

The research experience begins with a question: what are you actually trying to do? Build a brief from a topic, explore a topic space, or find gaps your competitors have missed. Each path is tailored to the goal.

Before the research runs, Frase asks four quick questions—topic, goal, audience, and market. This locks in the strategy before the SERP analysis runs, so the keywords, evidence, and brief structure it surfaces are anchored to what this specific piece needs to accomplish—not just what's generically ranking.

You can also apply your [Brand Hub](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub#writing) writing settings—brand voice, term rules, reference docs—before a single search query runs.

### **Where Research Fits in the Content Workflow**

Research is the first step in Frase's content flow:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### **Research**

You research to decide what matters.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Brief

You brief to plan structure and focus.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Content

You write with clarity and intent.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### **How Research Flows Into Briefs**

Frase lets you move from research into briefs in two ways:

* From **Create → Research**, you can intentionally **run research first**, then create briefs using what you've learned.
* From **Create → Content** and *+ New Article* button, you can **jump straight into creating a brief** and let Frase research topics and competitors automatically in the background.

Either way, every brief is grounded in SERP insights—so writers (and Frase) know what matters before drafting begins.

{% hint style="success" %}
**The result:** clearer briefs, fewer revisions, and content that starts aligned instead of hoping to get there later.
{% endhint %}

#### Keep a Brief in Sync With Your Research

Research doesn't always stand still after you've built a brief. If you go back and change what the brief is based on—pin new evidence, add keywords, or adjust the plan—Frase marks the brief as stale instead of quietly serving the old version.

Open the Research session and you'll see a "**Research updated"** banner with an **Update brief** button. Click it to regenerate the brief from your current research, so the plan reflects what you actually pinned.

{% hint style="info" %}
A couple of things worth knowing:

* If the brief is already current, regenerating does nothing and costs you nothing.
* If you've already started the article, or hand-edited the brief, Frase leaves your original untouched and builds a fresh version from the new research instead of overwriting your work.
  {% endhint %}

### How to Review Research

<details>

<summary><strong>Summary</strong> <strong>Tab</strong> — Your control room to choose what goes into the brief.</summary>

You have full control to pin and curate which keywords, SERP structure, AI visibility signals, and supporting evidence integrate into your content brief and article.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>SERP Tab</strong> — See how competitors have structured their content.</summary>

Word counts, domain authority, heading hierarchy. Everything you'd expect, informing a smart output.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Keyword Tab</strong> — Difficulty, coverage, and intent in one view.</summary>

Pin the terms you want the brief to target. The bottom bar tracks what you've committed to as you go.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>AI Visibility Tab</strong> — View AI platform opportunities and competitor gaps.</summary>

Before you write a word, you can see which AI platforms are citing your competitors and where the gaps are for you to fill. Pin your strongest evidence—stats, quotes, and facts straight into the brief.

</details>

When you're ready, the **brief** is a complete strategic document with content type, target tone, core argument, a section-by-section outline with evidence already mapped in, plus a do's and don'ts guide. Everything a writer (whether in-house or AI-driven) needs before they start.

Use the **Brief Builder** on the right side-panel to track progress and make adjustments as needed.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Want to make changes?** Use *Ask AI*. From there, hit Write to generate content, export the brief and write it yourself, or hand it to a freelancer. The brief is yours to use however you normally would.
{% endhint %}

### How to Research for Existing Content

Keyword, SERP, and competitor research also lives right inside the content editor.

The **Keyword** **Research** tab of the right sidebar helps you initiate research, and the **Checklist** tab helps you optimize:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FGkCTLfpSU5vh0E6BY3WY%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=5f95ae4d-5859-4844-bff7-9a817912e8b2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* Every evidence row links to its source, so you can check the claim before you use it.
* Draft on a topic row writes that section into your document, dropped in below the most-related section.
* As you write, the topics and questions you've covered tick themselves off.

{% hint style="info" %}
**You can research for**[ **imported** **existing articles**](/core-workflows/optimize-existing-content) **too.** If an imported article doesn't have a primary keyword yet, Frase asks for one first, then runs research against it.
{% endhint %}

# Content Scores Explained

See how Frase evaluates and helps optimize your content for search and AI discovery

Content Scores in Frase show you how well your content is optimized compared to what’s already winning.

Each score reflects a different dimension of visibility, across traditional search engines *and* AI-powered search, and comes with clear guidance on what to improve next.

Think of these scores as a compass guiding you—not a report card.

### The Big Idea

Frase analyzes your content in real time against top-ranking competitors and translates that comparison into actionable scores.

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2F86h4Flqm0ThdgPlQYCJm%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=f44c6379-0c0e-44e4-958d-3ac5a36c9213" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

All scores:

* Run on a **0–100 scale**
* Update as you edit and improve with AI
* Use clear visual signals:
  * **Red:** Needs work
  * **Yellow:** Good
  * **Green:** Strong
* Come with **specific, actionable suggestions**

{% hint style="success" %}
You’re not optimizing in a vacuum—you’re optimizing to win *relative to what already ranks*.
{% endhint %}

### EEAT Score

The EEAT Score determines how well your content stands up to Google's quality and ranking guidelines. It focuses on whether your copy builds trust, shows expertise, and exerts authority.

#### How to improve it

* Complete your *Author Bio* to show expertise
* Add high authority citations and author info
* Expand content depth
* Add author social profiles and credentials

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** Use Frase's built-in Author Profiles to enhance EEAT scores with ease.
{% endhint %}

### GEO Score (Generative Engine Optimization)

The GEO Score measures how easily AI systems—like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews—can extract, understand, and reference your content.

{% hint style="success" %}
In other words: *Will AI trust this enough to use it?*
{% endhint %}

#### What GEO evaluates

* **Direct answer potential:** Can AI pull clear, concise answers?
* **Citation worthiness:** Is the information authoritative and quotable?
* **Structured information:** Are facts, stats, and definitions easy to parse?
* **Question coverage:** Does the content answer real AI-style prompts?

#### Why GEO matters (a lot)

* Over 50% of searches now surface AI-generated answers
* Zero-click results mean visibility matters even without traffic
* AI assistants pull from GEO-friendly content
* This is how you future-proof your content strategy

{% hint style="success" %}
If SEO helps people *find* you, GEO helps AI *choose* you.
{% endhint %}

#### How to improve it

* Add clear definitions and explanations
* Include concrete stats and data points
* Answer questions explicitly (don’t imply)
* Use structured formats like lists, tables, & FAQs
* Cite authoritative, trustworthy sources

### SEO Score

The SEO Score measures how well your content aligns with on-page SEO best practices and keyword usage compared to top results.

#### How to improve it

* Refine keyword placement (especially in headings)
* Clean up heading hierarchy
* Expand thin sections
* Strengthen internal and external linking

A score in the **70–85+ range** is generally solid.

{% hint style="success" %}
SEO isn’t about stuffing keywords. It’s about *coverage*. If competitors consistently mention something you don’t, Google notices.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Keywords only count toward your SEO score when they appear as a whole word. A target term tucked inside a longer word won’t earn credit, so make sure the keywords you’re tracking show up as standalone words in your copy.
{% endhint %}

### How to Use Content Scores (without overthinking it)

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### View your scores

Scores appear in the top-right corner of the editor in any article.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Drill into suggestions

Click any score to see exactly what’s helping—or hurting—it.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Optimize intentionally

Use Frase’s optimization suggestions to:

* Apply improvements with one click
* Or make manual revisions where it makes sense
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Prioritize smartly

* Don’t chase perfect 100s
* Focus on beating competitor averages
* Improve the score that lags the most first
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Scores are feedback, not goals.** Use them to make better decisions—not to micromanage every sentence.
{% endhint %}

# Autonomy Trust Center

Choose how much of your content Frase can publish without you, with guardrails that pull automation back if quality slips.

The **Autonomy Trust Center** is where you decide how much the Frase Agent can publish on its own. You set a level for each content type, tune the guardrails that keep automation safe, and watch your pipeline health from one place.

Frase never publishes blindly — it earns more freedom per content type, per site, only as your approval history proves it's working.

{% hint style="info" %}
**By default, nothing publishes on its own.** Auto-publishing only happens after you turn it on and set a content type to an automatic level. Frase has to earn each step up — a content type can't jump to full auto until it's built up enough approved history.
{% endhint %}

#### Where to Find It

Click **Autonomy** in the left sidebar and pick a site. Everything about how much Frase can publish for that site lives across three tabs — **Per-Type**, **Guardrails**, and **Trust** — plus a companion [**Content Strategy** ](#the-content-strategy-dashboard)dashboard for the birds-eye view.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Autonomy is admin-only.** Only admins can open the Autonomy settings and change autonomy levels for a site.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FT1NgqutCZvNhXpDN2nfQ%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=05b16527-e644-4097-8792-cd1114304f33" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Where Auto-Published Content Comes From

Autonomy only governs brand-new content that Frase drafts for you — it never touches pages that are already live. It sits on top of this pipeline:

1. **A content gap is spotted.** Frase's [Opportunities](/feature-reference/content-opportunities) engine flags things your site should cover but doesn't yet. Drafts come from your [Playbooks](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub#workflow), scheduled content, and the Agent chat.
2. **A brief and draft are created for that gap** — as one of the \~18 content types (blog post, FAQ, how-to, case study, and so on), with a trail back to the opportunity that motivated it.
3. **The agent finishes the draft and asks to publish it.** That request is what the Autonomy governs: it decides, per content type per site, whether the new draft goes live on its own or waits in the review queue.

{% hint style="success" %}
So every autonomy level, guardrail, and trust score is really answering one question: **is this newly drafted piece trustworthy enough to publish itself?**
{% endhint %}

#### Where Auto-Published Content Goes

When Frase auto-publishes a draft — or when you approve one from the review queue — it publishes to whichever CMS your site is connected to: **WordPress**, **Webflow**, **Sanity**, **Wix**, or **Frase CMS**.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
You **DO NOT** need Frase CMS turned on for Autonomy to work.
{% endhint %}

### Autonomy Levels (Per-Type Tab)

On the **Per-Type** tab you'll see a grid of your content types — about 18 in all, covering blog posts, FAQs, case studies, and more.

For each one, you choose how much freedom Frase gets:

* **Review only:** Frase drafts the content, but a person has to approve every piece before it publishes.
* **Auto low-risk:** Safer content types can publish themselves. Riskier ones still wait for review.
* **Auto all:** Frase can publish every draft of that content type automatically.

{% hint style="info" %}
A content type only becomes eligible for a higher level once it's built up enough approved history — a minimum number of reviewed drafts at a high enough approval rate.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Auto-publishing needs credit allowance on your plan. If your org has none, you'll see a prompt to upgrade to unlock it.
{% endhint %}

#### Guardrails That Keep Automation Safe (Guardrails Tab)

**Guardrails** are the safety limits on automatic publishing, and you set them per content type. If you want to be stricter or looser than the defaults before a type can be promoted — or before it gets paused — this is where you do it:

* **Approval-rate pause threshold:** If your team's approval rate for a type drops below the level you set, automation pauses on its own.
* **Minimum sample size:** How many reviewed drafts are required before Frase is allowed to act, so it isn't running on too little data.
* **Monthly credit cap:** A ceiling on how much can be auto-published each month.
* **Auto-rollback window:** A period during which auto-published content can be automatically rolled back.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If a content type's approval rate falls below its pause threshold, Frase stops auto-publishing that type until you step back in. Set the threshold where you're comfortable.
{% endhint %}

#### The Trust Meter (Trust Tab)

The **Trust** tab is a scorecard for each content type. At a glance, every card shows:

* The type's current **approval rate.**
* Its **"X of Y drafts"** progress toward the next autonomy level.
* Whether it's currently **paused.**

A type that's already on full Auto sends nothing to review, so instead of an empty ring its card now shows a real **quality percentage** with its own caption, so you can still see how that type is performing.

When a type has earned enough trust to move up, its card lights up with a highlighted glow and a one-tap **Enable auto-publish** button — so you can promote it without hunting through settings.

{% hint style="danger" %}
The Trust Meter also works as a circuit breaker. If a type's approval rate falls below its threshold, the system automatically demotes it back to **Review only** and pauses auto-publishing for it.
{% endhint %}

### How to Use Autonomy Over Time

Higher autonomy is earned, not switched on all at once. To unlock a higher level, Frase counts your approvals over a rolling **30-day window**, so a steady reviewer approving a couple of pieces a week can reach full auto over time. The pause guardrail still watches your recent **7-day** approval rate, so a sudden quality drop is caught quickly.

You'll also see a nudge comparing your approval rate against similar teams, shown in an anonymized way, so you have context for where you stand.

#### The Content Strategy Dashboard

The **Content Strategy** dashboard gives you a rollup view of pipeline health across the whole operation. Check it periodically to see what's being auto-published versus what's still waiting on a person. It surfaces:

* **Open content signals and opportunities** worth acting on.
* **Drafts sitting in review,** so you know what's waiting on your team.
* **Auto-published in the last 7 days,** so you can see how much went out on its own.
* **Overall approval rate,** so you can track quality at a glance.
* **A feed of recent approve/reject decisions,** so you can see how the queue is trending.

#### How to Turn On Auto-Publishing

1. Go to **Settings** → **Autonomy** and complete the consent flow to enable auto-publishing. Frase records your consent and keeps an audit trail of every change.
2. Click **Autonomy** in the sidebar, pick a site, and open the **Per-Type** tab to set the autonomy level for each content type.
3. Open the **Guardrails** tab to tune your thresholds if you want to be stricter or looser than the defaults.
4. Watch the **Trust** tab — when a card is eligible for more autonomy, use its one-tap **Enable auto-publish** button.
5. Check the **Content Strategy** dashboard periodically for the birds-eye view of what's auto-publishing versus sitting in review.

#### Reviewing and Rolling Back

Drafts that aren't cleared for auto-publishing go into your editorial review queue, where your team approves, edits, or rejects them. Once your org has agent-generated content, a review-first banner points you to what needs attention.

Every automatic run is logged in the **Activity** tab, which shows what Frase published on its own. If something gets auto-published that you want to undo, open the **Activity** tab and use **Roll back** on that article. Roll back is offered when there's a prior version to restore, and within your auto-rollback window Frase can also revert auto-published content for you.

### Frequently Asked Questions

**Will Frase publish content without my approval?**

Only if you turn on auto-publishing and set a content type to an automatic level. By default, every draft waits for review.

**Why can't I set a content type to full auto yet?**

Autonomy is earned. A type has to build up enough approved history — a minimum number of reviewed drafts at a high enough approval rate — before it's eligible to move up. Until then, it stays on a lower level.

**What happens if my content quality drops?**

Guardrails handle it. If a content type's approval rate falls below the threshold you set, Frase automatically demotes it to Review only and pauses auto-publishing for it until you take the reins again.

**Can I undo something that was auto-published?**

Yes. You can roll back auto-published content, and within your auto-rollback window Frase can revert it automatically.

**Can I automate some content but not all of it?**

Yes. Autonomy levels are set per content type, so you can auto-publish low-risk types while keeping others on review only.

**Why do some content types look locked or greyed out?**

That means your current plan doesn't include auto-publishing for those types. If your org has no auto-publish credit at all, you'll see an upgrade prompt instead of the editable grid.

# Content Clusters

Build topical authority with themed clusters

Clusters in Frase help you organize related content around key themes, so you can build topical authority and improve search visibility.

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FMwacLNfgBn6N0Ip8laqp%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=c9d2a76c-8f72-4b52-af8e-1749e212b5d7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Instead of publishing disconnected articles, clusters structure your content into strategic topic groups that signal expertise to search engines and make it easier for users to navigate your site.
{% endhint %}

### **Why Clusters Improve Rankings**

#### 1. Build Topical Authority

Search engines reward depth. When multiple related pages cover different angles of the same subject, it signals expertise.

Clusters help search engines understand:

* What your site is about
* Which topics you specialize in
* How your content connects

#### 2. Strengthen Internal Linking

Clusters create natural internal linking opportunities between related content. This:

* Passes authority between pages
* Helps search engines crawl more effectively
* Improves user navigation

#### 3. Improve Content Planning

Clusters give structure to your content calendar. Instead of asking “What should we write next?”, you expand strategically within an existing topic.

#### 4. Track Performance by Theme

With Clusters, you can [measure performance](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/seo-analytics) at the topic level — not just by individual articles.

This helps you identify:

* Which themes drive traffic
* Which topics convert
* Where to invest next

### **How Clusters Work in Frase**

Frase automatically groups your site content into topical clusters and surfaces them as a **visual map** on the Opportunities page.

The map gives you three things at a glance:

* **Existing pages** — content you've already published that belongs to a cluster
* **Opportunities** — related topics you haven't covered yet
* **Content gaps** — areas where your cluster is thin and needs depth

From the map, you can take action directly on any node. The actions available depend on the type of content you're looking at:

* **Optimize** — improve an existing page's SEO
* **Edit** — open and update the content directly
* **Create new** — start a new article to fill a gap in the cluster

### What You Need to Get Started

Clusters pull from your connected data sources. To get the most out of the feature, make sure you have the following set up before diving in:

* **Site audit** — so Frase can analyze your existing content
* **Google Search Console connection** — so Frase can factor in real search performance data
* **CMS connection** — so your content is accessible and actionable from within Frase

{% hint style="info" %}
**The more data you connect, the better your clusters.** Frase builds clusters from the data sources you've set up. Richer data means more accurate groupings and more relevant opportunities surfaced.
{% endhint %}

### How to Build Clusters

To access Clusters, head to the left sidebar and click **Create > Opportunities**. Then, select the **Clusters** toggle on the top right.

<figure><img src="https://2279611032-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F1qovufZAMEOFfdX3BMUE%2Fuploads%2FXHczJl1Wr2xZfsivWpxF%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=88bca9fb-9b52-4c78-a31c-595cc064dafe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Frase can suggest content clusters based on natural themes from:

* Your existing content
* Your keywords
* Topic relationships across your site

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Choose 2–3 Core Topics

Start with your most important business areas.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Create a Pillar Page

Develop a comprehensive guide that broadly covers the topic. This will act as the central hub of the cluster.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Add Supporting Content

Each cluster should include **5–8 pieces of content** to be effective. These articles should:

* Target specific subtopics
* Answer related questions
* Link back to the pillar page
* Link to other supporting articles when relevant
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Use the Visual Map to Find Gaps

Once your cluster is set up, check the visual map regularly to:

* Look for opportunity and gap nodes — these are your next content priorities
* Create new articles directly from the map to keep everything connected
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Expand Strategically

Once a cluster is established, continue building depth within that theme before jumping to unrelated topics. Over time, you'll develop multiple high-authority clusters across your site.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Finish a Cluster in One Move

When a cluster has gaps, you don't have to plan each piece by hand. From the Clusters view, use **Finish this cluster** and Frase lays out the whole cluster for you, pillar first, and lists every proposed piece by name so you can see the full plan before you commit.

You can also accept recommendations in bulk. From **Create > Opportunities**, select several recommendations and add them straight onto dated slots. An allowance counter moves as you select, so you can see what the batch will cost before you commit to it.

#### **Example**

If you need inspiration, here is an example Cluster for a marketing website.

**Cluster Topic:** Email Marketing

* Pillar Page: Complete Guide to Email Marketing
* Supporting Articles:
  * Email Automation Strategies
  * How to Grow an Email List
  * Email Subject Line Best Practices
  * Email Segmentation Explained
  * Email Marketing Tools Compared

# Agency Client Portal

Send content to your clients for review and sign-off with Frase's approval flow. White-labeling available for Enterprise.

The Client Portal is a formal approval workflow for your end clients before content gets published. You share a document, your client reviews it in the portal, they approve it or ask for changes, and you get things ready to ship without leaving Frase.

<figure><img src="/files/rs6p7WeI16kqTZjVEHCn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This is different than adding an *External Collaborator* to a document, and the Client Portal is designed for agencies to make communication between all parties a breeze.

Here's the quick distinction:

| <p><br></p>      | **External Collaborators**                                 | **Client Portal**                               |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Best for** | Ad-hoc sharing with freelancers, partners, or stakeholders | Formal client sign-off before publishing |
| **Scope**        | Per-project or per-folder                                  | Organization-wide (one portal per org)          |
| **Permissions** | Granular—view, comment, suggest, approve, edit | Review and approve shared content |
| **Branding** | Frase-branded share links | White-labeled with your own branding and domain |
| **Availability** | All plans                                                  | Enterprise plan                                 |

Reach for **External Collaborators** when you want to loop someone in quickly, and the **Client Portal** when you want a polished, branded approval experience for a client.

{% hint style="info" %}
The Client Portal is an **Enterprise** feature. There's one portal per organization, and you'll use that same portal across all of your clients—each client only sees the content you've shared with them, not work shared with anyone else.
{% endhint %}

### How the workflow works

Throughout the workflow, each document carries a status so you always know what's waiting on the client and what's cleared.

<figure><img src="/files/udFcPJtXT9JLtZj8QCgB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here's the flow:

1. From your content, **share the document with your client** to send it to the portal for review.
2. **Your client receives an email** with a link to the portal and opens it from there.
3. In the portal, **your client reviews the content** and either approves it, requests changes, or leaves comments on specific sections.&#x20;
4. You see their approval status and comments back in the main Frase app alongside the original document, make any revisions, and send it back for re-review.
5. Once the client approves, the content is signed off and ready to publish.

<figure><img src="/files/f33YdFqjqV5XwjZPM3gR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Set up the portal&#x20;

Setup happens in your settings, where you turn the portal on and apply your branding so the experience looks like yours, not Frase's:

1. Head to **Settings** > **Client Portal**.&#x20;
2. Toggle the *Portal Status* on.
3. Add your *Branding*—your portal name, logo, and brand colors—so the portal matches your agency's look.
4. Adjust your Features settings—setting the scope and permissions around comments, approvals, and publishing between the client and your team.
5. Add clients and share the specific content you want each one to review.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Need white-labeling?** By default, the client portal links to a Frase URL. To request a custom domain, reach out to <support@frase.io> with the domain you'd like to use.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Repurpose Content

Turn a finished Frase article into ready-to-publish content for social media & newsletters

**Content Repurposing** lives inside the article editor, on the **Share** tab under *Repurpose Conten*t. Point it at an article you've already written, and it drafts platform-specific versions for you. &#x20;

You write the article once, then spin off the social and email versions without starting from a blank page OR having to feed the same context into another tool.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/jshK0FkW0I68N6eGXeCL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

**The formats you can generate:**

* LinkedIn carousel
* Twitter/X thread
* Email newsletter
* Instagram post

Each version is built from your article, so the facts, angle, and brand voice carry over. Frase reshapes content you already wrote for a new channel, grounded in what you already have, all in one place.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Content Repurposing is available on Professional plans and up.** If you don't see the Repurpose Content section in your editor, check your plan.
{% endhint %}

### When to use it

Reach for repurposing once an article is in good shape and you want to get more out of it. A few common moments:

* You published a blog post and want a LinkedIn carousel and an X thread to drive traffic to it.
* You're building a newsletter issue around a piece you already wrote.
* You want an Instagram caption that matches the article without rewriting it by hand.

If the article still needs work, finish it first. Repurposing pulls from whatever's in the editor, so a stronger source makes stronger social posts.

### Generating your first batch

Open any article in the editor, look to the right side-panel, and at the bottom, open the ***Share*** tab, and find the *Repurpose Content* section.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/fS9Ubws8h1rv0kGOoqZ4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

1. Click **Generate All** to draft every format at once, or click a single card to generate just that one.
2. Behind the scenes, Frase drafts each version, critiques its own draft, and revises it before showing you anything. It checks the draft for specificity, voice match, hook strength, and whether it reads like filler.
3. Your saved brand voice (set up in [Brand Hub](/feature-reference/brand-hub)) feeds into every draft, so the tone stays consistent with the rest of your content. You can ship it as-is or edit as you see fit.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Set up your brand voice before you repurpose. The generator leans on it for tone and word choice, and a defined voice is the difference between posts that sound like you and posts that sound generic.
{% endhint %}

### Editing what you get

Every piece in the preview is editable down to the individual unit, so you can fix one line without regenerating the whole thing. This is where most of your time goes on a first run, so it's worth knowing what you can touch.

#### Swap the opening hook

The hook is the first line that decides whether anyone keeps reading. Each draft comes with a row of Hook variants. Pick one, or type your own. Click Regenerate hooks if you want a fresh set to choose from.

#### Edit or regenerate a single piece

Click into any tweet, slide, or key point to edit the text directly. Want the AI to take another swing at just that one unit? Hit Regenerate on it, and the rest of your edits stay put.

#### Add images to a carousel

On a LinkedIn carousel slide, click Add Image to drop in an AI-generated background. The backgrounds come out text-free, so your slide copy stays readable on top.

#### Tune newsletter subject lines

Newsletters come with two subject line and preheader options, an A and a B. Toggle between A and B to compare them, then edit the call-to-action to whatever you need.

### Exporting your content

When a version is ready, click **Download**. You can export to:

* PDF
* PNG
* Markdown
* [Google Docs](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-docs)
* [Notion](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/notion)

The Google Docs and Notion exports carry the full repurposed body, so what you get in those tools matches what you built in the preview.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Exporting downloads a copy of the content.** It doesn't publish anything to LinkedIn, X, Instagram, or your newsletter tool. You'll still need to post or send it from your own platform.
{% endhint %}

# Backlinks

Find new sites to earn links from, keep an eye on the links you already have, and draft outreach

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/345829d941c242c9b68e8e3f9e5dc3aa>" %}

**Backlinks** is a link-building SEO tool inside Frase. It's more than "who links to me" monitoring — it's really a prospecting tool for finding new sites to pitch for a link, with monitoring of your existing links layered on top.

&#x20;It does four things:

* **Competitor gap analysis** — finds domains that link to your competitors but not to you, so you know who to pitch.
* **Adjacent-product prospecting** — finds domains linking to complementary (non-competing) businesses that share your audience, widening your pool of outreach targets beyond direct competitors.
* **Your own backlink monitoring** — tracks who currently links to your site and flags when a link disappears.
* **Two bonus angles** — "content that earns links" (which competitor pages get linked to the most, useful as content ideas) and "unlinked mentions" (pages that mention your brand by name but don't link to you — an easy outreach ask).

## How to Use Backlinks

On the left sidebar, head to **Monitor → Backlinks**. From here, you'll run scans, review prospects, and monitor your existing links.&#x20;

### Run a Scan

Backlinks doesn't run on a schedule — you trigger it yourself, and you can run **one scan per billing period**, so pick your moment.

When you start a scan, you can choose which competitors to analyze for that specific run. Backlinks then works through your own backlinks, finds prospects from your competitors and from adjacent products, and detects unlinked mentions.&#x20;

When the scan finishes, your summary tiles, prospect list, and referring domains are all populated.

### Read Your Summary&#x20;

At the top of the Backlinks page, you'll see summary tiles highlighting key metrics:

<figure><img src="/files/aTsW5a3z0IeewIXBQhPF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The ***Referring Domains*** tile shows the **competitor median** rather than a derived percentage, giving you a like-for-like benchmark against your competitors.

### Work Your Prospects

The prospects table is where your outreach candidates live. Each prospect carries a **DA** ("domain authority") **score, Value fit score,** and a **status** you can move through as you work it: *new*, *contacted*, *won*, or *ignored.*

Filter, group, and sort the table as needed to narrow a large list down to the prospects worth your time.

Your prospects come from two sources:

* **Competitor gap** — domains that already link to competitors but not to you.
* **Adjacent products** — domains linking to complementary businesses that share your audience. The prospects page includes an explanation of what adjacent products are, so you understand why a domain showed up.

#### Draft Outreach

Click into an individual prospect to open its detail view. This kicks off a deeper analysis: Frase looks at the linking page, works out the context behind why it linked, and drafts a personalized cold outreach email for you.

You can edit that outreach draft directly in the prospect detail before you send it, so the final message is in your words.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important**: Currently, prospect outreach must be copied and sent *outside of Frase.*
{% endhint %}

#### Export Prospects

Need your prospects outside Frase? You can export the prospect list to **CSV** or **HTML**. Your referring domains export as well, so you can pull your existing links out too.

### Monitor Your Existing Links

Open any **referring domain** to see its detail sheet — this is where your current inbound links live.&#x20;

When a link disappears, Backlinks flags it as a lost link rather than quietly dropping it, so you can see what changed.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Each scan retrieves the **1,000 highest-ranked** referring domains. If your site has more than that, the list will show the strongest slice.
{% endhint %}

### Check Unlinked Mentions

Unlinked mentions are pages that name your brand but don't link to you — usually the easiest outreach ask you'll have.&#x20;

They're ranked by confidence, and weaker ones are collapsed behind a count so the strongest opportunities stay front and center.

Running another scan can also retract a mention that no longer holds, not just add new ones — so the list keeps itself honest over time.

### Get Content Ideas from Link Magnets

Backlinks clusters the competitor pages that earn the most links. Treat these as content ideas: if a particular kind of page keeps pulling links for your competitors, that's a strong signal for what to create yourself.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Use [**Frase Agent** ](#user-content-fn-1)[^1][to pull and analyze your backlink prospects, summary](#user-content-fn-1)[^1], and more.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Content Guard

Keep your team's content updated and optimized automatically

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Content Guard** is best for teams managing large content libraries who want underperforming content improved automatically.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

**Content Guard** helps you keep existing content up to date without manually reviewing every page.

Frase monitors content that was **created in Frase and** [**published**](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/publishing) **to a live URL**, checks its performance using [**Google Search Console**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) **data**, and automatically prepares an improved draft for your review when performance starts to slip.

You have **full control** over which improvements to auto-apply and when review is needed to apply suggestions.

<figure><img src="/files/1pCW4U1QGShNbSY2WkXP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The goal is simple:\
Your content stays competitive while the review process stays lightweight.

{% hint style="warning" %}
For Content Guard to successfully optimize your content, you **must** have Google Search Console connected to Frase.
{% endhint %}

### How Content Guard Works

Content Guard runs on a regular monitoring cycle and follows a simple process:

1. **Frase monitors published content**
   * Only content created in Frase with a published URL is monitored.
2. **Performance is checked with Google Search Console**
   * Frase evaluates whether a page is performing poorly based on Search Console data.
3. **Frase generates an improved draft**
   * If performance drops, Frase creates a new draft version of the document.
4. **You review and approve the update**
   * The draft contains improvements such as:
     * Meta tag updates
     * Heading improvements
     * Internal link improvements

You can then review the draft and decide whether to publish the update.

### What Frase Improves Automatically

When Content Guard generates a new draft, it focuses on structural and on-page elements that influence search performance:

* **Meta tags**\
  Improvements to page titles and descriptions.
* **Headings**\
  Updates to headings to improve clarity and structure.
* **Internal links**\
  Adjustments that strengthen connections between related pages.

These changes are compiled into a new draft document so you can review them before publishing.

### Requirements for Content Guard

Auto-Optimization only works when certain conditions are met. Your content must:

| Requirement                                   | Why It Matters                                                    |
| --------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Be originally created in Frase | Content Guard monitors documents inside the Frase workspace. |
| Have a published URL attached to the document | Frase uses the URL to track performance in Google Search Console. |
| Have Google Search Console data available | Performance signals determine when an update is needed. |

If any of these requirements are missing, Content Guard cannot evaluate the page.

### When Content Guard Is Most Useful

Content Guard is especially helpful for teams that:

* Manage large content libraries
* Want to maintain rankings without constant audits
* Prefer reviewing ready-to-publish improvements instead of analyzing performance manually

Instead of manually checking pages for declines, Frase continuously monitors performance and prepares updates when they’re needed.

### How to Monitor Guarded Content

From the *Content Guard* tab of the left sidebar, click **View guarded content**.&#x20;

You will be brought to your list of guarded articles, so you can review changes, push optimized copy right to your CMS, and track your progress.

<figure><img src="/files/0MATmUiSiJ9odm2pHFMo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Invite Your Team

Streamline your team's workflow and stay aligned

Frase helps teams plan, create, review, and publish content in a clear, structured workflow. With defined roles, document statuses, assignments, and collaboration tools, you can reduce bottlenecks and keep projects moving.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Built-in [Brand DNA](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/brand-dna)ensures every contributor stays aligned from draft to publication.
{% endhint %}

### How to Invite Teammates&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only account Owners and Admins can manage user invites and permissions.
{% endhint %}

1. Log into your account and click **Settings**.
2. Navigate to *Team* and click **Invite Member**.
3. Enter the email address of the user you'd like to invite, and set their permissions. Voila!

### User Roles & Permissions

Admins have full control over user permissions under **Settings** **→ Team**. Assign each teammate as either an Admin, Editor, or Viewer depending on the level of access they need.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/IlyqDvct0bLmPKl8bykB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Features & Workflows for Teams

Frase gives teams a multitude of collaborative features to move content from idea to publication—while maintaining brand consistency at every stage.

#### 1. Document Statuses & Assignments

In Frase, content progresses through defined stages: **Draft → Review → Published**

* Assign documents or entire [Projects](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/projects) to establish clear ownership and review workflows.
* Team members can filter articles between **content stages** and **user assignment**. This keeps projects organized, reduces bottlenecks, and ensures nothing gets stuck waiting for feedback.

#### 2. In-Document Collaboration

Request revisions, track **version history,** and create a feedback loop with Frase's document collaboration tools.&#x20;

**In-line comments** make it easy to flag copy needing tweaks and iterate across your team. Use **share links** to pull in collaborators, whether in-house or external, for feedback and approval—with full visibility and privacy controls.

#### 3. Built-In Brand DNA

With [**Brand DNA**](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/brand-dna), teams can define **brand tone and style** once and apply it across all content. **Reference Documents** and **Terminology** act as a centralized AI knowledge base so your team stays consistent.

{% hint style="success" %}
Together, workflow states, brand controls, and shared references create a collaborative system that helps teams publish faster without sacrificing quality or alignment.
{% endhint %}

# About Integrations

Work seamlessly with Frase's connectors and CMS publishing

Frase integrations connect your existing tools and data directly into your workflow, so insights don’t live in silos and publishing doesn’t require extra steps.

By linking platforms like [Google Search Console,](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) [GA4](/integrations/connectors/google-analytics-4), [Google Docs](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-docs), [WordPress](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/wordpress), [our headless CMS](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms), and more, Frase can pull in real performance data, push content where it needs to go, and keep your SEO and content operations aligned in one place.

### Why Integrations Matter

Integrations allow Frase to work with your actual content and real search data—not assumptions.

With integrations enabled, you can:

* Base decisions on verified Google performance data
* Identify optimization opportunities tied to live pages
* Reduce manual copy-paste between tools
* Publish and update content directly from Frase
* Keep analytics, optimization, and execution connected

The result is a smoother workflow from insight to action, without switching tools or breaking context.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**If you only connect one tool to Frase, start with Google Search Console (GSC).** This connection powers so much of Frase's audit & content features. Consider it a must!
{% endhint %}

### What’s Next

In the following sections, you’ll learn how to:

* Connect each integration step by step
* Understand what data Frase pulls in or pushes out
* Use integrations to improve performance and speed up publishing

# API & MCP

Automate your content intelligence workflows

The **Frase API** and **MCP integrations** allow you to programmatically access Frase’s content intelligence platform.

Instead of manually running research, SERP analysis, site audits, and AI visibility checks inside the application, you can **automate those processes through code or AI agents.**

This allows teams to integrate Frase directly into:

* Internal tools
* CMS pipelines
* SaaS products
* Automation workflows
* AI agent systems

## About the Frase API&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Access our full API Documentation [here](https://next.frase.io/api/docs#description/introduction).
{% endhint %}

The **Frase API** is a REST API that provides programmatic access to the core capabilities of the Frase platform.

It includes **50+ endpoints** that allow you to interact with:

* Content and briefs
* SERP analysis
* AI search visibility
* SEO site audits
* Topic research
* Analytics
* Workflow automation

All API responses are delivered in **JSON**, making it easy to integrate with most programming languages and systems.

## About MCP&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Access our full MCP Documentation [here](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@frase/mcp-server).
{% endhint %}

Frase also supports **Model Context Protocol (MCP)** integrations.

MCP allows **AI assistants and autonomous agents** to interact directly with Frase tools and data.

Instead of writing custom automation scripts, you can allow AI systems to:

* Run research
* Analyze search results
* Publish content
* Monitor SEO performance
* Trigger workflows

For example, an AI agent could:

1. Identify a new keyword opportunity
2. Run SERP analysis
3. Generate a content brief
4. Create the article
5. Publish it through your CMS
6. Monitor performance over time

All without manual intervention. In other words, MCP turns Frase into a **content intelligence engine for AI-driven workflows.**

# Google Search Console

Turn real Google data into content decisions

Connecting Google Search Console (GSC) to Frase unlocks real search performance data, so your content decisions are based on what’s *actually* happening in Google.

Once connected, Frase uses your Search Console data to power [SEO Analytics](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/seo-analytics), surface Content Opportunities, and alert you to meaningful performance changes.

### Why Connect Google Search Console to Frase

#### See Real Keyword Performance

Understand exactly which queries your pages rank for and where they appear in search results. No guesswork—just verified rankings straight from Google.

#### Click & Impression Insights

Separate keywords that simply rank from those that drive real traffic. See impressions, clicks, and performance trends at a glance.

#### Identify Content Opportunities

Quickly find pages ranking in positions 3–10 that are close to page one and need optimization to drive more traffic.

#### Get Performance Alerts

Stay ahead of issues with email and Slack notifications for ranking drops or traffic declines, so you can act before small problems become big ones.

#### Power Frase Analytics and Recommendations

Your Search Console data fuels Frase’s insights, helping you prioritize content updates and optimization efforts using real search data.

### How to Connect Google Search Console

{% hint style="info" %}
Each teammate can connect their own Google Search Console account, so you're not sharing a single login.
{% endhint %}

1. Go to **Settings → Integrations**
2. Find *Google Search Console*&#x20;
3. Click **Connect** and authorize Frase access
4. Select the site property you want to sync
5. Data will begin importing automatically within 24 hours and can be synced at any time

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Don't forget to map your Google Search Console domain property to your Site Settings in Frase (especially if you've added more than one).
{% endhint %}

### What Happens After You Connect

Once connected, you’ll be able to:

* See real keyword rankings inside *SEO Analytics*
* Receive alerts for content opportunities and performance changes
* Make optimization decisions based on actual Google search data—not estimates

Connecting Google Search Console ensures your content strategy is grounded in reality, so you can focus on improving what already has momentum.

# Google Analytics 4

See the traffic AI assistants actually send you

Connecting **Google Analytics 4 (GA4)** to a Frase site shows you how much real traffic AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini send your pages, so AI visibility becomes something you can measure, not just guess at.

Once connected, Frase reads your GA4 data and surfaces it as ***AI Referrals*** under [**AI Visibility**](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo): sessions, share of traffic, week-over-week movement, and conversions from AI assistants.

### Why Connect Google Analytics 4 to Frase

#### See Real AI Referral Traffic

Find out how many sessions ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other assistants actually drive to your site. Google Search Console can't show this, because AI assistants aren't search results, so GA4 is the only way to prove those mentions send real people.

#### Track Share and Movement

See what portion of your traffic comes from AI assistants and how it moves week over week, so you can tell whether your AI visibility is growing or slipping.

#### Measure Conversions

Go past visits to outcomes. Frase reads conversion metrics from GA4, so you can see whether AI-referred traffic converts.

#### Catch Every Assistant

Frase ranks the assistants it recognizes and keeps other referrers separate. When a new assistant shows up that Frase doesn't recognize yet, it's still counted, so nothing goes missing.

### Before You Connect

{% hint style="danger" %}
You first need to [connect a site ](https://docs.frase.io/get-started/connect-your-site-and-brand)and [**Google Search Console**](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) to enable GA4. Disconnecting GSC also disconnects GA4.
{% endhint %}

### How to Connect Google Analytics 4

Frase connects to GA4 through a shared Google service account. You grant that account read-only access inside GA4, then paste your property ID.&#x20;

1. In Frase, go to **Settings → Integrations**, find *Google Analytics*, and start the connection on the site you want.
2. Copy the Frase service account email shown on the connect screen.
3. In Google Analytics, open **Admin → Property access management** for the property you want to connect.
4. Click **+ → Add users** and paste the Frase service account email.
5. Set the role to **Viewer**. Frase only ever reads your analytics, it never writes to them.
6. Uncheck **Notify new users by email**. The service account isn't a real mailbox.
7. Back in Frase, paste your **Property ID** and finish connecting.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Use your numeric Property ID, not your Measurement ID.** Your Property ID is a number like `123456789`, found under **Admin → Property details**. It is *not* the `G-XXXXXXX` Measurement ID. Pasting the `G-` value is the most common reason a connection fails.
{% endhint %}

Frase confirms the connection with a live read of your property, so you'll know right away if it worked.&#x20;

If something's off, Frase tells you what to fix, whether access hasn't been granted yet, the property ID is wrong, or the property is a Universal Analytics property instead of GA4.

### Where to See Your Data

Once you're connected, your first sync runs right away. After that, Frase syncs your GA4 data daily.

Find your results under **Monitor → AI Visibility → AI Referrals**. If there's no AI referral traffic yet, the empty state tells you why and points you to the next step.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**A note on what these numbers mean.** A session from an AI assistant is a *referral*, not proof that a specific mention caused the visit. Assistants are also increasingly dropping referrer data, so treat AI Referrals as a floor on your real AI traffic, not an exact count.
{% endhint %}

# Google Docs

Create, optimize, and collaborate—without leaving Docs

Frase’s Google Docs integration is built for teams that already live in Google Docs.

Instead of starting from scratch or manually copying content between tools, this integration lets you import, refine, and export content seamlessly — while also teaching Frase’s AI how your brand writes, sounds, and communicates.

### Why Connect Frase to Google Docs

The Google Docs integration helps you:

* Import **existing content** to optimize and improve in Frase
* Bring in brand voice guidelines, reference docs, and term glossaries through [Brand Hub](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub)
* Export briefs and content back to Google Docs for collaboration
* Keep content workflows aligned with how your team already works

{% hint style="success" %}
**Think of it as a two-way bridge:** Google Docs informs Frase → Frase improves content → results go back to Google Docs
{% endhint %}

### What You Can Do with the Integration

Once connected, you can use Google Docs across Frase in three main ways:

#### 1. Content Governance & Brand Voice

Import [Brand Hub](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub) documents like:

* Brand voice and tone guidelines
* Terminology libraries or glossaries
* Product, service, or offer documentation
* Internal reference materials

These documents are used to guide Frase’s AI, so content stays consistent, on-brand, and accurate.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Google Docs can also be added as "Smart Sources" when you [create content](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-creation) in Frase.
{% endhint %}

#### 2. Optimize Existing Content

Bring existing drafts or published copy from Google Docs into Frase to:

* Improve structure and clarity
* Optimize for search and AI visibility
* Expand, refine, or rewrite sections using AI
* Align content with current SERP insights

#### 3. Export Briefs Back to Google Docs

Send content briefs back to new or existing Google Docs for:

* Stakeholder reviews
* Editorial collaboration
* Final approvals
* Documentation and sharing

### How to Connect Google Docs to Frase

{% hint style="info" %}
**If needed, you can connect more than one account:** an account selector appears in the import pickers so you can choose which one to pull from.
{% endhint %}

#### Step 1: Connect the Integration

1. Log into Frase
2. Go to **Settings** (bottom-left)
3. Click **Integrations**
4. Find **Google Docs** and click **Connect**

#### Step 2: Choose Your Google Account

1. Select the Google account you want to connect
2. Review the access permissions
3. Click **Allow**

{% hint style="success" %}
That’s it — your Google Docs account is now connected. You can disconnect it at any time from *Integrations,* which removes that account everywhere it was being used.
{% endhint %}

5. Import the document

{% hint style="success" %}
Your AI is now guided by real brand documentation — not generic prompts.
{% endhint %}

#### Optimize Existing Content From Google Docs

1. Go to **Create** → **Content** and click **New Article**
2. Choose **Optimize Existing**
3. Select **Google Docs**
4. Pick the document you want to refine
5. Associate it with a site (optional)
6. Adjust optimization settings to guide the AI
7. Click **Import and Optimize**

{% hint style="success" %}
Frase will pull in the full document so you can improve it using briefs, SERP insights, and AI tools.
{% endhint %}

#### Export Content Briefs Back to Google Docs

1. Open any brief in Frase
2. Click **Export**
3. Choose **Google Docs**
4. Choose to export as a new document or save into an existing document

{% hint style="success" %}
This makes it easy to hand content back to collaborators without changing workflows.
{% endhint %}

# Notion

Power Frase with your internal knowledge

Frase’s Notion integration lets you connect your internal documentation directly to Frase so your AI-generated content is guided by the same knowledge your team already uses.

Instead of rewriting guidelines or pasting reference material into prompts, you can import brand docs, terminology, and internal knowledge straight from Notion and use them to inform content creation across Frase.

### What You Can Do with the Integration

Once connected, Notion can be used across Frase for [Brand Hub](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub) governance and AI guidance.

You can import:

* Brand voice and tone documents
* Product and service documentation
* Internal playbooks and knowledge bases
* Terminology, terms libraries, and glossaries

{% hint style="success" %}
These documents help Frase understand your brand, language, and offerings before it generates or refines content.
{% endhint %}

### How to Connect Frase to Notion

{% hint style="info" %}
**If needed, you can connect more than one account:** an account selector appears in the import pickers so you can choose which one to pull from.

#### Import Brand Voice Documents

1. Go to **Brand Hub** in the left sidebar
2. Under Brand Voice, click **New Profile**&#x20;
3. Switch to the **Import** tab

{% endhint %}

#### Import Terminology & Glossaries

1. In *Brand Hub,* select **Terminology**

{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Notion pages can also be added as "Smart Sources" when you [create content](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-creation) in Frase.

# Frase CMS

Publish blog content directly from Frase

Frase CMS is a **built-in blog hosting platform** that lets you write, optimize, and publish content directly from Frase.

Instead of writing content in one tool and publishing it in another, Frase CMS keeps everything in a **single workflow.** This means you can move from first draft to a live blog post without switching tools, configuring plugins, or managing hosting infrastructure.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Frase CMS is **headless**, which means it only provides the content behind the scenes. It only works with platforms or websites that are built to connect to a headless CMS.
{% endhint %}

## Why Frase CMS&#x20;

Most content teams use a workflow that looks like this:

1. Write and optimize content in a writing tool
2. Copy the content into a CMS (like WordPress)
3. Reformat headings and images
4. Add SEO metadata
5. Configure plugins
6. Publish and verify the page layout

This extra step often **doubles the time required to publish a piece of content**.

Frase CMS removes that second half of the process.

Once your content is finished in the Frase editor, you can **publish it instantly with a single click.**

* No copy-pasting
* No reformatting
* No plugin management
* No separate CMS login

{% hint style="info" %}
**Want your blog to match your site?** Frase can theme your hosted blog automatically from your brand's colors, fonts, and layout. See [Theme Your Blog Automatically with Brand DNA](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/theme-your-blog-automatically).&#x20;
{% endhint %}

## How Frase CMS Works

Publishing content with Frase CMS is a simple three-step process.

#### 1. Create Content in Frase

Start by researching and writing your article inside Frase.

You can:

* Research topics and competitors
* Generate a content brief
* Write and optimize your article
* Add images and formatting
* Configure headings and structure

By the time your article is complete, it is already **optimized for search and AI visibility.**

{% hint style="success" %}
**Your blog is themed from your brand automatically.** Frase reads the visuals captured in [**Brand Hub**](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub) and applies them to your Frase-hosted blog. In **Settings**, click **Preview** to see how your page will look, then switch to **edit mode** and select any card to fine-tune the styling—margins and padding, corner radius, borders, shadow, and card colors.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

#### 2. Publish Your Article

Once your article is ready, you can publish it directly from the editor.

You have two options:

**Manual publishing**

Click **Publish** and your article goes live immediately.

**Agent-powered publishing**

Tell the Frase Agent something like:

* “Publish my article to the blog”
* “Schedule this post for next Tuesday at 9am”

The agent handles:

* Formatting
* Image optimization
* Meta tags
* SEO markup
* Publishing

{% hint style="info" %}
**Publishing more than blog posts?** See [Set Content Types with Site Taxonomy](https://docs.frase.io/publishing#set-content-types-with-site-taxonomy) to enable types like alternatives, reviews, and FAQs, each with its own browsable section.
{% endhint %}

#### 3. Track Performance and Update Content

After publishing, you can monitor performance directly inside Frase.

You can view:

* Page views
* Engagement metrics
* Content performance over time

If you need to update an article, simply **edit it in the same editor and republish**. There is no separate CMS dashboard to manage.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** You will need to connect Google Search Console to Frase CMS to track performance. Follow the instructions in-app to set this up.
{% endhint %}

## Review Queue

The Review Queue is where editors sign off on content before it publishes.

If your team wants a second set of eyes on every post, this is where that happens. Submissions land in the queue, and a reviewer can approve them, reject them, or edit and approve them. Nothing reaches your blog until someone clears it.

### **How the Queue Is Organized**

The queue gives each status its own column, so you can see where everything stands at a glance:

* **Pending:** waiting on a reviewer
* **Approved:** cleared to publish as submitted
* **Edited & Approved:** a reviewer made changes, then cleared it
* **Rejected:** sent back, not publishing

Each item shows its assigned reviewer and an SLA indicator, so you know who owns the review and whether it's running behind.

### **Reviewing an Item**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
On the left sidebar, open **FraseCMS.**

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click any row to open the content detail panel.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
For a pending item, pick an action:

* **Approve** publishes the post as submitted.&#x20;
* **Edit & Approve l**ets you make changes first, then approve.&#x20;
* **Reject s**ends the post back without publishing.
* **Publish** sends it live. You can republish or unpublish as needed.
* **Reassign Authors** lets you choose with author to list for the content.&#x20;
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

Once an item is approved, edited and approved, or rejected, it's locked. Those statuses are read-only, so the record of what happened stays intact.

{% hint style="success" %}
Every action is saved with a full audit trail. You can always see who approved, edited, or rejected a post and when. A post can also only sit in the queue as pending once, so you won't get duplicate review entries for the same piece.
{% endhint %}

## Hosting Options

Frase CMS gives you multiple ways to host your blog depending on your setup and SEO goals.

| Hosting Mode      | Example           | Best For                                             | Setup Time   |
| ----------------- | ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| **Subdomain**     | blog.yoursite.com | Quick launches and testing content strategies        | \~1 minute   |
| **Custom Domain** | yoursite.com      | Full brand ownership and independent blog hosting    | \~5 minutes  |
| **Subdirectory**  | yoursite.com/blog | Maximum SEO value and domain authority consolidation | \~15 minutes |

#### Subdomain Hosting

Frase hosts your blog on a subdomain.

Example:

blog.yoursite.com

This is the fastest way to get started and requires minimal configuration.

#### Custom Domain Hosting

You can connect your own domain and publish directly to it.

Frase automatically handles:

* SSL certificates
* DNS verification
* security configuration

This option allows you to run your blog entirely on your own domain without managing servers.

#### Subdirectory Hosting

You can also host your blog at a subdirectory like:

yoursite.com/blog

This is typically the **best option for SEO**, since content published in a subdirectory contributes to the authority of your primary domain.

This setup uses a **reverse proxy connection** between your website and Frase CMS.

## Built-In Publishing Features

Frase CMS includes everything needed to run a high-performance blog without additional plugins.

#### One-Click Publishing

Publish directly from the Frase editor without copying content into another platform.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/pH3KlOqmVs4l55sOyS1W" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### Built-In SEO

Frase automatically generates:

* Meta tags
* Open Graph tags
* XML sitemaps
* RSS feeds
* Clean URLs

Your articles are **search-ready the moment they go live.**

#### Edge Performance

Content is delivered through a global CDN with:

* Automatic image optimization
* WebP conversion
* Core Web Vitals optimization
* Global edge caching

This allows pages to load quickly for users anywhere in the world.

#### Scheduled Publishing

You can schedule posts to go live at a future date.

This allows you to:

* build editorial calendars
* schedule campaigns
* batch-create content ahead of time

Frase handles the publishing automatically.

#### Built-In Analytics

Frase CMS includes performance tracking for published posts.

<figure><img src="/files/BSjsmehYX8vWUcj9sEe6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can view:

* Page views
* engagement data
* performance trends

This allows you to monitor content performance without setting up separate analytics tools.

## Headless API Support

Frase CMS can also function as a **headless CMS backend**.

The REST API allows developers to:

* retrieve blog posts
* publish content programmatically
* integrate Frase with existing websites
* power custom frontends
* migrate content from other platforms

This makes Frase CMS flexible enough for both **simple blogs and advanced developer workflows.**

## Frase CMS vs WordPress

Frase CMS focuses on **simplifying the content publishing workflow**, while WordPress focuses on maximum customization.

| Feature                   | Frase CMS                          | WordPress                       |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Hosting setup             | Built-in                           | Requires external hosting       |
| Plugins                   | None required                      | Often required                  |
| SEO configuration         | Automatic                          | Requires plugins                |
| Publishing workflow | Built directly into content editor | Separate system |
| Maintenance | None | Updates and security management |
| Custom design flexibility | Limited | Very high |

For many content teams, Frase CMS reduces operational overhead by removing the need to manage a traditional CMS.

## Free Tier

Frase CMS includes a **free tier** to help users get started.

The free plan includes:

* 1 blog
* Frase subdomain hosting
* Built-in SEO features
* RSS and sitemap generation
* Global CDN delivery
* Up to **1,000 page views per month**

This allows you to launch a fully functional blog without entering a credit card.

## How to Set Up Frase CMS

1. Set up Frase CMS by navigating to **Frase CMS** → **Settings.**
2. Configure your blog's subdomain.
3. Set up your custom domain and subdirectory if you wish.&#x20;
4. Voila! Your blog is ready to be published to from Frase. Set up search engine verification via Google Search Console below to monitor performance.

<figure><img src="/files/TIByEgHZwL9bZkilmc0k" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Connecting to a Host Site

With Frase CMS's *subdirectory mode*, you can plug into any external site host.&#x20;

Here's how to do it:

1. Upgrade to Frase CMS Basic or Pro at *Settings → Billing & Usage → Frase CMS*.
2. Enable subdirectory mode in your site's CMS settings (default subdirectory: `/blog`).
3. Verify your domain with the DNS records Frase provides.
4. Add a one-line redirect on your site host (in your `_redirects` file): `/blog/* https://<your-frasecms-subdomain>/blog/:splat 200`.&#x20;

\
After that, anything you write in Frase shows up at `<your-website>/blog/<post>` on your hosted site. No code, no static-site generator, no rebuilds.

#### Connecting to Google Search Console

Frase CMS + Google Search Console integration enables:

1. Performance monitoring - Track how your Frase CMS published content ranks and performs in search
2. Content opportunities - Get recommendations for what to write next based on real search data
3. Auto-optimization - The watchdog system detects declining content and auto-applies fixes
4. Analytics insights - See clicks, impressions, CTR, and rankings for your published pages

**Without GSC connected:** You can still publish to Frase CMS, but you lose visibility into performance and can't leverage data-driven optimization.

**Example:** `https://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin`
{% endhint %}

#### Step 3: Add Your WordPress Login Details

**Username**: Enter the admin email associated with your WordPress account

#### Step 4: Generate an Application Password in WordPress

1. Open your **WordPress Admin**
2. Go to **Users → Profile**
3. Scroll to *Application Passwords*
4. Generate a new application password
5. Copy the password *(this will only be visible once)*
6. Paste this password into the **Password** field in Frase.

<figure><img src="/files/1czT6IYr0stTHbfGDsFT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 5: Connect

Click **Connect WordPress** & you're set!

### Publishing Content to Wordpress

After connecting, you'll be able to:

* Choose Wordpress as your CMS publishing destination
* Send content as a draft or publish it live

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/6ktTqUxGA7eMGr8nk6cx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Publish to Custom Content Types

You can publish to both standard blog Posts and custom types like Testimonials or Case Studies. Just choose the type per article.

**Here's how to set it up:**

1. In *Settings* → *Integrations*, open your WordPress site and pick which types to allow under *Content types* (Posts is always included).
2. In the editor's *Publish* dropdown, expand WordPress and choose a type to Publish as.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The type locks after the first publish, so later updates re-target the same post. If you use RankMath, your SEO meta now syncs automatically on publish.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Best Practices & Tips

* Use *draft* when collaborating with editors or clients.
* Use *publish* when content is finalized and approved.
* You can still edit, format, and schedule posts normally inside WordPress after publishing.
* Application passwords can be revoked anytime from WordPress for security.

# Sanity

From Frase to Sanity in one step

Frase’s [Sanity](https://www.sanity.io/) integration lets you send content directly into your Sanity CMS without manual copying, formatting, or rework.

### How to Connect to Sanity

#### Step 1: Open Your Sanity Project

1. Log into [Sanity Studio](https://www.sanity.io/studio) and view your Organization Settings
2. Open the project you want to connect to Frase
3. From the main project view, go to the *API* tab

{% hint style="info" %}
In Sanity, a "project" represents a single site you manage. You may have one or several.
{% endhint %}

#### Step 2: Copy API Token & Project ID

<figure><img src="/files/G4tDwr48lx9PaGdMxihG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. In the *API* tab, scroll to *Tokens*
2. Click **Add API token**
3. Name the token (for example: *Frase Integration*)
4. Set permissions to *Read + Write*
5. Save the token. Once created, Sanity will generate a token value. Copy this — you’ll paste it into Frase in the next step.
6. In the same *API* section of your Sanity project, locate your *Project ID* (at the top of your Project).

#### Step 3: Connect Sanity in Frase

1. Log into [Frase](https://next.frase.io)&#x20;
2. Go to **Settings → Integrations**
3. Under *CMS Publishing*, select **Sanity**
4. Paste in:
   * Your API Token
   * Your Project ID
5. Choose the document type to publish to (most choose *Post*)
6. Save and connect

#### Step 4 *(OPTIONAL)*: Set Up Public URL Template

Create a public URL template to tell Frase where your published content lives on your site, so it can connect each CMS document to its live URL.

**What this affects**

* [**Content Guard**](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/publish-and-protect-with-content-guard#protecting-your-content-with-content-guard) — Frase can't monitor a published article for ranking drops without knowing its live URL.
* [**GSC performance**](/integrations/connectors/google-search-console) — Clicks, impressions, and position data won't link back to specific content pieces in your library.
* **Republish flow** — The "accept and republish" action needs the live URL to push updates to the correct CMS document.
* **Content health** — Stale content detection and decay alerts rely on matching CMS posts to their live URLs.

**Format**

If your blog posts live at `https://yoursite.com/blog/my-post-slug`, set your template to:

`https://yoursite.com/blog/{slug}`

The `{slug}` placeholder is replaced with each document's actual slug field at sync time.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Without a public URL template, Frase treats your content as **untracked**. You can still create and publish, but all performance monitoring and GSC-linked features will be unavailable.
{% endhint %}

### Publishing Content to Sanity

After connecting, you'll be able to:

* Create and optimize content in Frase
* Choose Sanity as your article publishing destination
* Send the content as a draft or published entry
* Open Sanity Studio to review, edit, or finalize

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/eWnXtgNPaXBkrACl1T4E" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Some Sanity fields, such as "Publish Date" or others customized by your CMS instance, are mandatory and must be updated in Sanity *after* pushing the content to Frase.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

* Use *push* when content is finalized and approved.
* You can still edit, format, and manage posts normally inside Wix after publishing.
* Application passwords can be revoked anytime from Wix for security.

# Webflow

Publish to Webflow in one click

Frase’s Webflow integration lets you publish content directly into Webflow CMS without copying, pasting, or reformatting content manually.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** You must create a CMS **Collection** in Webflow before you can integrate and publish with Frase.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### How to Connect to Webflow

#### Step 1: Open Webflow Integrations in Frase

1. Log into [Frase](https://next.frase.io)
2. Go to **Settings → Integrations**
3. Under *CMS Publishing*, select **Webflow**

#### Step 2: Generate an API Token in Webflow

1. Log into Webflow
2. Open the site you want to connect
3. Click the **three dots** next to the site
4. Select **Settings**
5. Go to **Apps & Integrations**
6. Under *API Access*, click **Generate API Token**

<figure><img src="/files/pMMN7eEgfYbb9TTFptc5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 3: Configure Token Permissions

1. Name the token (for example: *Frase Integration*)
2. Enable the following scopes:
   * **CMS**: Read & Write
   * **Sites**: Read & Write
3. Click **Generate Token** (*this is only shown once)*
4. Paste the API token into Frase and click **Verify Token**

{% hint style="success" %}
Once verified, Frase will be able to access your Webflow sites and CMS collections.
{% endhint %}

#### Step 4: Select Site, Collection, and Fields

1. Choose the Webflow site you want to publish to
2. Select the **CMS collection** where content should be published
   * If you don’t have one yet, create a CMS collection in Webflow first
3. Map Frase fields to Webflow CMS fields

**If you miss this step or need to make changes,** you can always re-configure your field mapping from within any article:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/N80a5JbnK71p92X4Gzvx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="success" %}
This ensures content lands exactly where it should in Webflow.
{% endhint %}

#### Step 5 *(OPTIONAL)*: Set Up Public URL Template

{% hint style="danger" %}
Without a public URL template, Frase treats your content as **untracked**. You can still create and publish, but all performance monitoring and GSC-linked features will be unavailable.
{% endhint %}

### Publishing Content to Webflow

{% hint style="info" %}
Webflow has no native table element, so any tables in your article publish as a readable format rather than a true table. If you'd like to avoid tables in articles due to this, adjust your instructions in [**Brand Hub.**](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub#writing)
{% endhint %}

After connecting, you'll be able to:

* Choose Webflow as your publishing destination
* Send content as a draft or publish it live

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Some Webflow fields, such as those customized by your CMS instance, are mandatory and must be updated in Webflow *after* pushing the content to Frase.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Best Practices & Tips

* Publish to *draft* if you review content before publishing.
* Double-check CMS field mappings the first time you publish.
* API tokens can be regenerated or revoked anytime for security.

# Citations: Internal & External Linking

How Frase helps you build a well-connected article.

Links matter more than most people realize. **Internal links** help search engines understand how your content is organized and pass authority *between* your pages. **External links** signal that your content is well-researched and grounded in credible sources.

Frase assists with both during content generation. Here's what that looks like in practice and what you can do manually when you want more control.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Want to control how Frase handles links in your content?** Head to the left sidebar > *Brand Hub* > *Brand Voice*, and add instructions under the *Links & CTAs* section!
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/xESeEvyDF5biboMTMIid" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Internal Linking

When you generate content in Frase, **internal linking happens automatically** as part of the writing process. Frase weaves relevant links to other pages on your site directly into the article as it's written — not as an afterthought.

#### What to Expect

* **You need a site audit first.** Internal linking requires audit data to work. Without it, Frase has no map of your existing pages and nothing to link to. If you haven't run an audit yet, that's the prerequisite. → [*See: Audit My Site*](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/audit-my-site)
* **Frase targets five to eight internal links per article.** These are distributed naturally across sections, and the same URL won't be linked more than once in the same article. If five to eight links don't fit naturally given the content, Frase will use fewer rather than force links in where they don't belong.
* **Links are part of the writing process, not added afterward.** Frase doesn't generate your article and then inject links at the end. They're woven in during generation, which means they read as part of the content rather than feeling tacked on.
* **Frase links to related pages based on relevance, not specific ones you choose.** If you want to ensure a particular page gets linked, the best approach is to edit the generated article and add those links manually before publishing.

#### **Adding or Adjusting Links Manually**

Frase's automatic linking is a strong starting point, but you always have full control to add, change, or remove links in the editor after generation.

A few situations where manual linking is worth doing:

* You want to link to a page that's new and wasn't included in your last audit
* You have a high-priority page — a pillar page or a key commercial page — that you want to make sure gets linked
* You want to adjust anchor text to be more descriptive or specific

{% hint style="success" %}
**How many internal links should an article have?** Five to eight is a solid target for 1,500-2,500 word articles. More important than the number is relevance — every link should make sense in context and give the reader a genuine reason to follow it.
{% endhint %}

### External Linking <a href="#external-linking" id="external-linking"></a>

External links in Frase come from the [Research](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/deep-research) phase of content generation. When Frase researches your topic, it identifies credible sources and citations and incorporates them into your article as supporting evidence.

The goal is content that's grounded in real data and authoritative sources — which is both good for readers and a meaningful signal for [AI citation](https://docs.frase.io/core-workflows/ai-visibility-and-geo).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Frase prioritizes citation&#x20;*****quality*****&#x20;over&#x20;*****quantity*****.** When you generate an article, Frase pulls from high-value primary sources first and fills any gaps with supporting sources, so your content is backed by strong, credible references.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

#### **What to Expect**

* **External links are research-driven.** Frase pulls citations from the sources it finds during the research phase and includes them where they're relevant. Links aren't invented or added arbitrarily — they come from actual sources that informed the content.
* **Frase only links to authoritative sources.** Every external link is evaluated for credibility before it's included. Sources below a minimum authority threshold are filtered out automatically, and government, educational, and established industry sources are prioritized. You won't find links to low-quality or unreliable sources in Frase-generated content.
* **Competitor domains are never linked.** Frase maintains a blacklist of competitor domains associated with your account and will never link to them in generated content, regardless of their authority level.
* **The same source won't be over-cited.** Frase tracks which sources have already been cited across sections and avoids repeating the same reference throughout the article, keeping your external links diverse and credible.
* **Frase aims for strong fact density.** External links typically accompany statistics, data points, and specific claims. This isn't just good practice for readers — it's one of the signals that improves your GEO score and increases the likelihood that AI systems will trust and cite your content.

#### **Adding or Adjusting External Links Manually**

{% hint style="info" %}
To keep Frase from citing certain sites, add them to your *excluded sources* in **Site Settings.** Frase applies this list across every article generated for that site and will not cite those domains, regardless of authority. Use it to block competitors, low-quality sites, or any source you don't want referenced in your content.
{% endhint %}

You can add, edit, or remove external links in the editor after generation. A few things worth keeping in mind:

* Prioritize linking to original sources — the actual study, report, or publication — rather than an article that references it
* If you're adding a statistic or data point manually, link to the source it came from
* Avoid linking to competitor domains, even if the content is relevant

{% hint style="success" %}
**How many external links should an article have?** Rather than targeting a specific number, a more useful rule is to cite a credible source for every major claim, statistic, or data point. A well-researched 2,000 word article may have six to eight external citations — and that's a good thing. What matters is that each is an authoritative original source and supports something unique.
{% endhint %}

# Controlling Content Localization in Frase

Align your research, content, and Opportunities to your brand's target market

Frase can tailor its research, keywords, content, and AI tracking to a specific country, region, or city. But location isn't a single switch — it's set in several places, each controlling a different part of your workflow.&#x20;

This guide explains where location lives, what each setting does, and how it shapes what Frase produces.

### How Location Works in Frase

Frase uses a layered model. There's one site-wide default market that most features inherit from, plus several settings that can override that default for a specific job — a single brief, one AI Visibility prompt, or your programmatic location pages.

| **Setting**                                        | **What it controls**                                    | **Scope**             |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| Default market (Site Settings) | The fallback country and language for nearly everything | Whole site |
| Geographic reach + target area (Site Settings) | Sub-national targeting — region, state, county, city | Whole site |
| Programmatic SEO location scope (Opportunities) | Which cities your location pages target | Programmatic SEO only |
| Per-prompt location (AI Visibility) | The region each tracked prompt is checked against | One prompt |
| Per-session / per-brief country (Research, briefs) | The market for a single piece of research or content | One item |
| Analysis location (Competitive Analysis) | Which competitors count as geographically relevant | One run |

{% hint style="info" %}
**The mental model:** one default, many optional overrides. When you want everything localized to the same place, set the default. When one feature needs to differ, use that feature's own location setting.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### The Default Market (Site Settings)

Your site's default market — its default country and language — is the foundation of localization in Frase. It's the value nearly everything else falls back to when you haven't set something more specific.

Set it in **Brand Hub →** **Site Settings**, and it flows into:

* The target country on new content briefs in the Create Content flow
* Site re-analysis and AI competitor discovery
* Programmatic SEO's target country, when it isn't set separately
* Opportunity discovery (the region Frase uses to pull search data)
* Competitive Analysis's auto-filled location
* AI Visibility prompts' default location
* Research's default search region

Because so many features inherit from it, this is the single most efficient place to localize Frase. Set it to the market you actually serve and the rest of the platform aligns to it automatically.

{% hint style="success" %}
Set this first. Getting the default market right means every feature that uses the default is already localized correctly — you only touch the individual settings below when a specific job needs to differ.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Existing items keep their original location. Briefs, prompts, and opportunities you created earlier hold whatever value they had at creation. Changing the default market updates future work; revisit older items if you want them retargeted.
{% endhint %}

### Sub-National Targeting (Site Settings)

The default market sets your country. When your business is more precisely defined — a state, a county, a city, or a specific regional footprint — you describe that in your **Brand Hub → Site Settings** as well.

Here you can set:

* **Geographic reach** — how broadly you operate: Worldwide, Nationwide, Regional, State, County, or City
* **Target country, region, state, county, and city** — the specific areas you serve

These values give Frase a richer picture of where you do business. They feed your onboarding gap analysis, auto-fill your Competitive Analysis location, and serve as a more specific fallback for Programmatic SEO's country when the plain default market isn't precise enough.

{% hint style="success" %}
Choose your location from the type-ahead picker whenever possible. When you select a canonical location that way, Frase treats it as the source of truth and prefers it over anything typed into the free-text fields. It's the most reliable way to make sure Frase targets exactly the place you mean.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Localizing Programmatic SEO (Opportunities)

If you build location pages — pages like "Web Design in Austin, TX" — those get their own dedicated location scope in *Programmatic SEO Settings* through **Create** → **Opportunities** → either the location badge on the top right, or the rescan icon on the top right. This is separate from your site default.

<figure><img src="/files/fm4iZtaPRg43cqKPaMsT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
There are three controls:

* **Target country** — the country Frase uses to pull real search-volume data for each city
* **Target locations** — the cities you want to rank for
* **Excluded locations** — areas to leave out

The cities you enter drive the whole pipeline. They seed Frase's location discovery (alongside cities Frase infers and finds on your site), each city is checked for real search volume in your target country, and each qualifying city becomes its own location-page opportunity — where the city itself becomes the topic of the brief.

{% hint style="info" %}
Programmatic SEO keeps its own target country and its own city list, so it can target a different scope than the rest of your site. Because it's independent, this is the setting to use when you want location pages for markets your default doesn't cover.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Localizing AI Visibility (Per-Prompt Location)

In **AI Visibility**, each tracked prompt carries its own location. It's pre-filled from your site's default market, but you can set it prompt by prompt — which is exactly how you monitor brand visibility across different regions at the same time.

This is the location setting with the most direct effect on results. When Frase checks a prompt, it passes that prompt's location into the live web searches it runs against ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, which changes what each model actually retrieves when checking whether your brand appears.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Gemini doesn't use the prompt location. ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity all honor the location you set on a prompt — so a location change will move your results on those three engines but not on Gemini.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Changing a prompt's location gives you fresh results. Updating the location prompts Frase to run a new check rather than reuse a cached one, so your next run reflects the new region right away.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### The Other Places You Can Localize

Several features carry their own location, each scoped to a single job. Use these when you want to localize one specific task without changing anything site-wide.

**Research** — Each research session has its own country selector that scopes the Google results Frase pulls. The country you choose for a session also carries into any brief you create from it, so research and the content that follows stay aligned to the same market.

**Content briefs** — Each brief has its own target country, seeded from your site defaults but editable per brief. It drives the keyword-volume data for that brief and gives a ranking boost to sources from the target country as the content is generated — useful when you want one article localized differently from the rest.

**Competitive Analysis** — Each analysis run has a location, auto-filled from your Brand Profile's canonical location and overridable per run. It determines which competitors count as geographically relevant, so it keeps your competitive set tied to the market you care about.

### Putting It Together

A quick way to localize Frase end to end:

1. Set the default market in *Site Settings*. This localizes everything that inherits the default — briefs, research, opportunities, AI Visibility, and competitive analysis — in one move.
2. Add sub-national detail in *Site Settings* if you serve a specific region, state, or city, and pick your location from the type-ahead picker so Frase targets it precisely.
3. Use each feature's own location setting only where a task needs to differ — a programmatic city list, a single prompt's region, or a one-off brief or research session.

{% hint style="info" %}
I**n short:** the default market localizes Frase broadly, and every other setting is there to fine-tune a specific part of the workflow when you need it to point somewhere else.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Using Projects

Organize & group your content in Frase

Projects in Frase provide folder-style organization to help you structure and manage your content efficiently. They allow you to group articles together by campaign, topic, client, or initiative, so your workspace stays organized as your content library grows.You can:

* Create a project from any article
* Move multiple articles into an existing project
* Manage document access & sharing at scale

{% hint style="success" %}
Once created, Projects appear under the left sidebar's **Create** tab for easy access. You can update project settings, modify access and sharing permissions, or delete a project at any time.
{% endhint %}

#### Collaboration, Permissions, & Sharing <a href="#collaboration-permissions-and-sharing" id="collaboration-permissions-and-sharing"></a>

Projects make collaboration easier across teams and stakeholders. You have full control over who can view or access each project.Options include:

* Allowing all users to view a project
* Restricting visibility to specific team members
* Managing internal and external sharing and collaborator access

At the account level, each teammate is set as **Admin, Editor, or Viewer** under **Settings → Team**, which controls what they can *do*; Project-level permissions then control what they can *see*. Permissions can be adjusted at any time to maintain privacy and control.

#### How to Create & Manage Projects <a href="#how-to-create-and-manage-projects" id="how-to-create-and-manage-projects"></a>

When you create content in Frase (in the ***Create*** tab), you can create a new Project or move it to an existing Project.&#x20;

Then, you'll see a list of existing Project folders on your left sidebar.From there, access permissions, share-links, and more can be managed at any time under the Project's settings.

# Theme Your Blog Automatically

Match your Frase-hosted blog to your existing site's look without touching a design tool. Frase studies your brand's visual style and themes your blog to fit.

### What Brand Hub DNA does

When you host your blog on [Frase CMS](https://docs.frase.io/integrations/cms-publishing/frase-cms), you want it to look like the rest of your site, not a generic template. Brand Hub DNA handles that for you.

Frase analyzes your website's visual style, including your colors, fonts, and layout, and builds a matching theme for your Frase-hosted blog. You get a snapshot preview of how it will look, a one-click way to apply it, and live controls to fine-tune anything you want to change.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Your blog is themed from your brand automatically.** Frase reads the visuals captured in [**Brand Hub**](https://docs.frase.io/feature-reference/brand-hub) and applies them to your Frase-hosted blog. In **Settings**, click **Preview** to see how your page will look, then switch to **edit mode** and select any card to fine-tune the styling—margins and padding, corner radius, borders, shadow, and card colors.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### How to Preview Your Brand Style

1. Open *Brand Hub* and go to **Profile**.
2. Pick the site you want to review.
3. Click **Assets** to open the style gallery.

The gallery shows how Frase has read your brand: your colors, typography, messaging, images, and more. This is the look Frase will use as the starting point for your blog and can be edited at any time.

### How to Apply Your Brand Look

1. On the left sidebar, open the *Frase CMS* section.
2. Click **Settings**.
3. Open the *Style*, *Layout*, and *Connections* tabs to review your blog's appearance.
4. Click **Use brand defaults** or **Re-sync from brand** to apply the theme Frase built from your site.
5. Click **Save**.

<figure><img src="/files/91Z0WXyiZR12iX3uootT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your live blog reflects the change within seconds. There's no rebuild and no waiting, so you can adjust and check your blog in real time.

{% hint style="success" %}
Apply the brand defaults first, then fine-tune from there. It's faster than building a theme from scratch, and you can override any color, font, or layout choice you don't like.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Refreshing Your Brand Analysis

If you update your website's design, you can have Frase re-analyze it to pick up the new look. Re-analysis is limited to a few runs per hour per user to keep things responsive, so if you hit the limit, wait a bit and try again.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your blog doesn't reflect a change right away, give it a few seconds and refresh. Theme edits apply almost immediately, but your browser may be holding an older cached version of the page.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Invite Your Team

Streamline your team's workflow and stay aligned

Frase helps teams plan, create, review, and publish content in a clear, structured workflow. With defined roles, document statuses, assignments, and collaboration tools, you can reduce bottlenecks and keep projects moving.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Built-in [Brand DNA](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/brand-dna) ensures every contributor stays aligned from draft to publication.
{% endhint %}

### How to Invite Teammates&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only account Owners and Admins can manage user invites and permissions.
{% endhint %}

1. Log into your account and click **Settings**.
2. Navigate to *Team* and click **Invite Member**.
3. Enter the email address of the user you'd like to invite, and set their permissions. Voila!

### User Roles & Permissions

Admins have full control over user permissions under **Settings** **→ Team**. Assign each teammate as either an Admin, Editor, or Viewer depending on the level of access they need.&#x20;

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/rCdvsqGUk5xNsWv3qvh4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Request revisions, track **version history,** and create a feedback loop with Frase's document collaboration tools.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Together, workflow states, brand controls, and shared references create a collaborative system that helps teams publish faster without sacrificing quality or alignment.
{% endhint %}

## Frase Answers — An AI Answer Engine for Your Site That Uncovers What to Write Next

The first step in the loop: answer every visitor in seconds, and turn their questions into your content roadmap.\
\
**Frase Answers is a widget that lives on your site and answers visitors' questions from the content you already publish** — conversationally, in seconds, with a citation back to the page every time. And because it captures every question in the visitor's own words, it's also where the loop begins: the things people actually ask become the signal for what to create next. A chatbot answers and forgets. Frase answers and learns.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Who this is for:** Content marketers, SEO managers, and anyone with a content library and traffic to match. If visitors land on your site and can't find the answer fast— or you've ever wished you knew exactly what they came looking for — this one's for you.
{% endhint %}

#### &#x20;What you'll find

* Answers from the content you already publish. Links back to the page it came from. No separate knowledge base to build.
* Set up in minutes, in your brand voice. Runs a site audit, reads your top pages, loads your brand voice, indexes your content. Add more from a website crawl, FraseCMS posts, or reference docs.
* Every question captured, in the visitor's own words. Log + Signals record real demand, not guesswork.
* Insights that point to your next piece of content. …gaps trending across an anonymized cohort of your industry, ranked gaps-first.
* Make it your own, then embed it anywhere. Mascot, chat style, voice → one snippet.

#### Where it fits

Answers is step one of the loop — Listen → Create → Publish → Monitor.

## 16 Content Types — Everything You Create Now Adapts to What You're Writing

Plus, updates to target markets, brand voice generation, and Wix publishing.

Pick your content type and everything that follows is now tailored to reflect it. Outlines, GEO scoring, AI suggestions, and word count guidance all adapt to what you're writing.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Who this is for:** Content marketers, SEO managers, and anyone who creates more than one kind of content in Frase. If you've ever published a listicle and a pillar page in the same week, this update is built for you.
{% endhint %}

#### What you'll find

* **16 content types, each with its own logic.** Blog, listicle, FAQ, glossary, how-to, comparison, pillar, landing page, case study, tutorial, news, product update, data report, event, resource, and pages. Choose your type at the start and every step downstream adjusts to match.
* **GEO scoring that knows what you're making.** The GEO score in your editor is now AI-judged against your specific content type's rubric, not a one-size-fits-all ruleset. Each factor tells you exactly why it scored that way and which fixes would move it most.
* **Ask AI suggestions tailored to your content type.** The Improve content shortcut in the Ask AI panel runs analysis specific to what you're creating — not generic tips. Highlight any passage to Rewrite, Make shorter, or Proofread it inline.
* **The editor spots when your content type might be off.** If the AI detects your article is a better fit for a different type, it surfaces a suggestion with a one-line reason. Accept it, dismiss it, or choose from the full list — switching immediately rescores everything.

#### What else is new

* **Brand voice, auto-generated from your site.** Head to Brand Hub and run Analyze (or Re-analyze if you've been there before) — Frase now reads your site and automatically builds a brand voice profile (alongside your competitor landscape and positioning analysis). No manual setup required.
* **18 new target markets.** Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Iceland, Greece, Serbia, Bangladesh, Kenya, and Tanzania now added.
* **Wix publishing is now live.** Ask the in-app Agent to publish to a connected Wix blog and it'll confirm before sending — joining WordPress, Webflow, and Sanity as supported destinations.
  {% endupdate %}

{% update date="2026-05-14" %}

## Content Guard — Continuous Monitoring & One-Click Fixes for Published Content

Hitting publish used to be the finish line. Now it's the starting line. Content Guard watches your live articles, flags ranking drift the moment it starts, and surfaces fixes you can apply in a click — so your content keeps performing long after it ships.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Who this is for:** Content teams, SEO managers, and editorial leads who care what happens to an article after it goes live. If you're catching ranking drops in scheduled GSC checks rather than the day they happen, this is for you.
{% endhint %}

#### What you'll find

* **Pre-publish rule status, at a glance.** A warnings pill next to the Publish button shows whether your content passes every Content Guard rule. Click to expand per-rule status with fix hints — toggle between "issues only" and "all rules" grouped.
* **One-click monitoring on publish.** When you publish a piece, choose to "Guard this article" in one-click to immediately begin monitoring.
* **Confidence-scored optimization suggestions.** Content Guard watches your live pages and surfaces fixes — add a section, update a heading, integrate a missing entity — each tagged High / Medium / Low confidence. You decide what ships.
* **Auto-apply policy you control.** Choose how much happens without your review: *always ask me*, *auto-apply safe fixes only* (meta description, page title), or *advanced* to pick exactly what auto-applies and at what confidence threshold.
* **Notifications in your Frase agent thread.** When something needs your attention, Content Guard sends a single message to your shared chat with a link straight to the Guard tab.

{% hint style="success" %}
You decide what ships. Your content tells you when it needs attention.
{% endhint %}
{% endupdate %}

## New Research Flow — Strategy-First Briefs, AI Visibility Built In

The Frase research experience has been rebuilt from the ground up. Experience all the power of Frase's deep research to build your strategic brief.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGQ8tZrb86U>" %}

#### Who this is for

Content marketers, SEO strategists, and anyone who wants more than a list of keywords from their research tool. This update is for users who want full control over their content briefs — with the data and intelligence to back every decision they make.

#### What you'll find

* **Strategy-first setup.** Define your goal, audience, and market before research begins. Everything that follows is filtered through that strategic lens.
* **SERP and keyword analysis.** See how top-ranking competitors have structured their content, then dig into keyword volume, difficulty, coverage, and intent — so you're targeting terms your content can actually win.
* **AI Visibility built into every session.** See which AI platforms are citing content on your topic, which competitors are appearing in those responses, and what gaps exist for you to fill — before you write a word.
* **Opportunities and Evidence tabs.** Surface content gaps your competitors have missed and pull authoritative stats, quotes, and proof points straight into your brief.

{% hint style="success" %}
You stay in control of what makes it into the brief. The heavy lifting is done.
{% endhint %}

## Legacy Migration Guide

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note:** This resource is for Legacy Frase users looking to move to the new Frase application. If you’re brand new to Frase, head back to the [Getting Started Crash Course](https://docs.frase.io/)!
{% endhint %}

We've organized this resource into two sections: FAQs and a step-by-step migration guide.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><i class="fa-circle-question" style="color:$primary;">:circle-question:</i></td><td><strong>FAQs</strong></td><td>Quick answers to pressing questions</td><td><a href="/pages/JsKd452Nu8XTrHz68zaF#frequency-asked-questions">/pages/JsKd452Nu8XTrHz68zaF#frequency-asked-questions</a></td></tr><tr><td><i class="fa-map" style="color:$primary;">:map:</i></td><td><strong>Migration Guide</strong></td><td>Step-by-step guide to your Frase migration</td><td><a href="/pages/JsKd452Nu8XTrHz68zaF#tutorial-migrating-to-new-frase">/pages/JsKd452Nu8XTrHz68zaF#tutorial-migrating-to-new-frase</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Frequency Asked Questions

#### Q: Why is Frase changing? The current version works fine for me.

A: Frase has evolved to meet how content works today. While Legacy Frase focuses on content optimization, the new Frase adds strategic intelligence and a complete end-to-end workflow—from site audits and topic strategy to optimized content and publishing.

Most importantly, the new Frase is built for both traditional SEO and AI search visibility, helping you understand what content to create and why it will work, not just how to optimize it after the fact.

#### Q: Do I have to switch to the new Frase?

A: No. Migrating to the new Frase is completely optional. You can continue using Legacy Frase if it meets your needs.

#### Q: I don't want to migrate right now - how do I access my Legacy Frase account?

A: Rest assured, unless your account is migrated to the new Frase application (accessible through [next.frase.io](http://next.frase.io/)), you can still access Legacy Frase by logging in through [app.frase.io](http://app.frase.io/).&#x20;

#### Q: Why should I consider switching?

A: The new Frase is designed for teams that want to write smarter, not just faster. By switching, you gain:

* Strategic guidance on what to create next
* Built-in optimization for Google and AI search
* A unified workflow from research to publishing
* Clearer insight into what’s working and where to improve

If you want more confidence that your content will perform before you invest time creating it, the new Frase is built for that.

#### Q: When do I need to switch by? Will I be forced to switch eventually?

A: There is no required deadline to switch at this time. We’ll provide advance notice well ahead of any future changes, and customers will never be forced to migrate without ample time and support.

#### Q: Can I try the new Frase before switching?

A: Yes. You’ll be able to explore the new Frase on a 7-day free trial to understand how it works before fully committing to a migration.

#### Q: How much will the new Frase application cost?

A: When you migrate to the new application, your subscription (if eligible) will remain at the same price as it was in Legacy Frase. If you are on an older, deprecated plan that is ineligible for migration, you'll be invited to start a free 7-day trial.

**For paid plan migrations, you may notice some limits look a bit different from your Legacy account in the new Frase application.** [**These are explained in depth here**](https://docs.frase.io/legacy-migration-guide#q-are-plan-features-or-limits-changing)**.**&#x20;

Please note that usage-based credits such as article and image generation could lead to increased costs if your usage increases on the new application, or you purchase new add-ons not offered in Legacy Frase.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
All pricing and billing can be viewed within new Frase by navigating to Settings > Billing & Usage or on our pricing page [here](https://www.frase.io/pricing).
{% endhint %}

#### Q: What happens to my billing cycle when I switch?

A: Your subscription's payment charges will remain the same after migration, on the date of each billing cycle (depending on if your plan is Monthly or Annual).

**IMPORTANT:** While in Legacy Frase, your credits refreshed on the 1st of the month, this will now occur on the date of your next billing cycle. If you are on a yearly plan, credits reset every 30 days, starting from your date of migration.

**Example:** Monthly billing cycle date is on the 4th of each month > credits also refresh on the 4th of each month.

#### Q: Are plan features or limits changing?

A: The new Frase application introduces new capabilities focused on research, strategy, intelligence, and workflow automation that do not exist in Legacy Frase.&#x20;

**IMPORTANT:** Some features have different names than what you're used to in Legacy Frase. Here's what's changed:

1. **"Content Projects / Research Docs / SEO Credits"** are now **"Research Docs".** You can create Research Docs through the left sidebar > **Research** tab. These are NOT the same as "Article Credits".&#x20;
2. **"Rank-Ready Credits" are now "Article Credits".** You can also create additional content beyond blogs like pillar pages, service pages, and landing pages. If you purchased Legacy Frase's Rank-Ready add-on, your remaining articles will migrate with you.&#x20;
3. **"Outlines"** are now **"briefs".** You'll have approximately double your plan's Article Credit limits for brief creation. Briefs can be created after [**Deep Research**](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/deep-research) OR from our [fast-tracked content creation flow](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/content-creation#jump-in-and-write).&#x20;
4. If you purchased Legacy Frase's AI Visibility add-on, never fear - we've got this power in the new Frase application under [**AI Visibility**](https://docs.frase.io/advanced/ai-visibility)**'**&#x73; "Tracked Prompts".&#x20;
5. Your Legacy Frase subscription will include the same (if not more) power repackaged into evolved, future-focused tools like [**Site Audit,**](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/site-audits) **AI Insights** and **Opportunities**, and end-to-end integrations and [**CMS publishing**](https://docs.frase.io/using-frase/publishing) flows.&#x20;

If you have any questions on how your current plan translates into new Frase, reach out to us at <team@frase.io> anytime.

#### Q: Are all my favorite features still available?

A: Legacy Frase’s core functionality you rely on is still available, and many features have been enhanced.

The biggest addition is strategic intelligence that comes before writing—so you spend less time guessing and more time creating content that performs.

#### Q: What’s actually new in the new Frase?

A: Key additions to new Frase include:

* Strategic content intelligence and Site Audits
* Frase Agent, an AI strategist to guide content decisions
* Optimization for both SEO and AI search visibility
* A complete workflow from research to publishing

The result is a more connected, strategy-first content management experience that helps you win on search.

<figure><img src="/files/ct3DrT1whlTJ36xLCjRi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Q: What if I have team members—do they all switch at once?

A: Team migrations are handled at the account level to ensure consistency. Once your Legacy Frase account has been migrated, your teammates will receive an email invitation to set up their account and join your organization. This must be completed within 24 hours.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
If you opt to start fresh in new Frase before migrating your Legacy account, note that the free trial includes 3 user seats.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

#### Q: Will my workflows change?

A: Core workflows in new Frase work about the same or BETTER than in Legacy Frase.\
The new Frase adds strategic layers before you write—so you create with more clarity and confidence, not more complexity.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
After you migrate, you’ll also have access to integrations like Google Docs, Notion, Wordpress, Webflow, and Sanity to make importing and publishing your content a breeze.
{% endhint %}

#### Q: Is the new Frase harder to use?

A: No—most users find it easier. The experience was rebuilt around how content teams naturally work: research first, strategy next, execution last. That means fewer clicks, clearer steps, and better outcomes.

{% hint style="success" %}
What’s even better - we’ve rebuilt a brand new [Crash Course ](https://docs.frase.io/)to teach you everything you’ll need to know to ramp up fast in the new application.
{% endhint %}

#### Q: Will my content governance settings transfer automatically?

A: Content governance settings will **not** be migrated automatically. You’ll need to set these up again in your new Frase account.&#x20;

We offer Google Docs and Notion integrations to make importing your governance docs easier than ever.&#x20;

#### Q: Do you have guides or training to help me get started?

A: Yes. You can access the New Frase Crash Course [here](https://docs.frase.io/). It walks through everything you need to get up and running quickly.

#### Q: How does the new Frase handle security and my business information?

A: The new Frase follows industry-standard security practices to protect your data and business information. Your content and insights remain private and secure.

#### Q: What happens to my existing content and documents?

A: Rest assured all of your existing live and archived documents from Legacy Frase are migrated to the new Frase. You can then arrange the docs you need into Projects as needed, and archive / trash any docs you no longer need.&#x20;

#### Q: How long does it take to transfer my content?

A: Most migrations complete in just a few minutes. You’ll be notified once the transfer is complete. Please note migrations with higher volume or larger docs may take longer.

#### Q: What do I do if my migration doesn't go through as expected?

A: If you notice your migration is taking longer than usual or experience any errors, please go back and try again to see if that resolves the issue.&#x20;

If not, you can select "Start Fresh" to begin a new trial, where you'll see a migration banner on the Dashboard and within your account's Settings. If you are still not able to migrate successfully through these routes, please reach out to us at **<team@frase.io>** so we can troubleshoot further.

Rest assured, until you are migrated you can still access your Legacy Frase account as usual through [app.frase.io](http://app.frase.io/).&#x20;

#### Q: Can I switch back if I don’t like the new version?

A: Since migration is optional, you can return to Legacy Frase if the new experience isn’t the right fit for you. Reach out to <team@frase.io>.&#x20;

#### Q: How do I contact support if I need help or want to share feedback?

A: Legacy Frase customers remaining on or moving to the new Frase application can reach our team at <team@frase.io>.

## Tutorial: Migrating to New Frase

This guide walks you through seamlessly migrating your account from Legacy Frase to the new Frase application.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only certain plan types are eligible for migration - and only organization admins can complete the migration process.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** If at any point you need help with your migration, contact us at <support@frase.io>.

**What to expect**

* Once the admin authorizes the migration, it should complete within minutes.&#x20;
* All active documents will be migrated and available under *“Content”* in new Frase.
* Once the migration is initiated, all non-admins will be unable to access Legacy Frase.
* When the migration is complete, these users will receive an email notification to set up their account and join their admin’s organization.&#x20;
* Any Content Governance, Folders, and Integrations will need to be set back up.

2. Confirm by clicking **Verify & Continue**.

### Step 4: Run the Migration

1. Click **Start Migration**
2. Migration begins automatically & you’ll see a progress indicator

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important for Teams:** At this point, your Legacy Frase account will only be accessible to Admins.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Step 5: Access the new Frase application

**Once migration is complete:**

1. Log in to the new Frase application using your new credentials
2. Review migrated projects and documents
